Chapter 1: New to Caring This chapter describes the common emotional responses among carers after their family members have been diagnosed of a mental illness health, and problems presented within the family due to a lack of understanding of the illness. It also discusses the importance of learning to manage the illness, thus leading readers to more details about their rights and support in the following chapters.
