Book Report Options Sheet Ites
1. Book Report Options
Write a standard book report. Using the given format, you will write a standard book
report. These will be graded on following the format, information provided, and spelling/
grammar. See Ms. Ites for a format.
Create an original book cover. You will create a book cover for your book. You must
have an original picture and design along with the title and author of the book. You will
also include the summary for the book and a one paragraph “About the Author” section
on the back. You will be graded on creativity, neatness, and information provided.
Create a comic strip. You will create a 12 slide (minimum) comic strip of your book.
Your pictures must be colored and at least half must have captions. You will be graded
on creativity, neatness, and information provided. This can be done on the internet
(www.readwritethink.org/materials/comic/index.html).
Make a mobile. You create a hanging mobile of your book. You can include important
characters, important words, themes, etc. You will also hand in an explanation of the
words or pictures you have chosen to use. You will be graded on information provided in
the mobile and the explanation and neatness.
Design a bookmark. You will be creating a bookmark (front and back) of your book.
Your bookmark needs to have the name and author of the book and at least 8 symbols
from the book, each labeled. You will be graded on information given, creativity, and
neatness.
Create a newspaper for your book. Summarize the plot in one article, cover the
weather in another, do a feature story on one of the more interesting characters in
another. Include an editorial and a collection of ads that would be pertinent to the story.
You will be graded on creativity, information provided, and neatness.
Make a time line of all the events in the book. You may do this in Power Point or
Microsoft Excel if you would feel more comfortable doing this on the computer. You
must have at least 20 events and will be graded on accuracy, neatness, and creativity.
Choose a quote from a character. Write why it would or wouldn't be a good motto by
which to live your own life. Your explanation should be 1 page typed. You will be
graded on your persuasiveness and spelling/grammar.
Create a Venn diagram to illustrate similarities and differences in the traits of two
of the main characters in a book just completed. Or, create a Venn diagram to
illustrate the similarities and differences between you and the main character. You
must have at least 7 similarities and differences for each character. You will be graded
on accuracy and neatness.
2. Create a diary or journal and write at least five entries that might have been written
by a character of the book you just read. The entries should share details about the story
that will prove that you read the book. Each entry should be at least ½ a typed double-
spaced page in length. You will be graded on information given, creativity, and spelling/
grammar.
Create a Power Point presentation with at least 10 slides. You presentation must
contain a summary of the book, a list of characters, 5 vocabulary words, information
about the author, and a review of the book. Also add anything else you deem necessary,
such as captions and pictures. You will be graded on creativity, information provided,
and neatness of slides.
