Brod Bagert is the award-winning author of 17 books of poetry for children, young-adults, and adults. His
work has received numerous awards, including International Reading Association’s prestigious Young
Adults Choices award, Association of Educational Publishers’ Distinguished Achievement Award,
Independent Publishers’ Gold Book Award, and Mom’s Choices Gold Medal. In collaboration with
hundreds of classroom teachers, Brod writes poetry across the grade K-8 curriculum—poems that are
rock-solid on Common Core State Standards and richly entertaining for students. Mr. Bagert has helped
change children’s poetry, focusing on performance as well as the poem itself. Throw in a touch of humor,
and the result is a new type of poetic experience for all, proving that meeting CCSS can be fun.
Sara Kajder is a middle-grades English teacher, author, and consultant. A former professor and high
school English teacher, she received the first National Technology Fellowship in English/Language Arts.
A nationally-known speaker, she is also the author of the 2012 Britton Award winning Adolescents'
Digital Literacies: Learning Alongside Our Students as well as Bringing the Outside In and The Tech-
Savvy English Classroom. Sara will share the new technologies that will engage and motivate our 21st
century learners.
