2. The Beginnings
•Gama Bomb are a thrash metal band
from Newry, Northern Ireland.
•Members consist of:
Philly Byrne, Joe Mc Guigan, Luke
Graham, Domo Dixon & Paul Caffrey
•They formed in 2002 and even though the
thrash scene in Ireland was very small
they still managed to get signed to a
small label 'Witches Brew' in which they
released their debut album.
3. Band Influences
They were influenced by bands such as:
Kreator, Agent Steel, Sodom and old Slayer
The lyrics of Gama Bomb's songs include:
•horror,action and sci-fi movies
•cartoons and computer games of the 1980's
•racism and global warming
•as well as mixing in their own humour
4. Big Signing
•In 2007 Earache Records confirmed
the signing of Gama Bomb which lead
to many tours in Europe and the big
release of their debut album Citizen
Brain.
5. Album Success
The band then toured Europe to support the
album. They headlined big festivals like Hellfest
(France) and Tuska Open Air (Finland) alongside
big names like Motley Crue, WASP, Anthrax and
Suicidal Tendencies.
6. Support of Download
During their tour of Europe they also showed their support of
downloading music for free as they don't want to feed those
greedy, whiney business men who say that downloading music is
killing the scene when in fact it's making more people from all over
the globe listen to different bands' music. They set up a campaign
to 'Stamp Out Inferior Metal', on their 2008 tour Thrashing Like A
Maniac, where they got fans to bring CDs to the gigs that they
regret buying and destroy them at shows.
7. Achievements
•In January 2009 they were voted best
newcomer in a Terrorizor magazine
readers' poll.
•In March 2010 they were nominated in
the Best Underground catergory of the
Metal Hammer Golden Gods awards
8. 3rd Studio Album
Gama Bomb wanted to do something different
with the release of their newest album ' Tales
From The Grave In Space' . Instead of selling off
their new album via CD they kept to their word
about their support of downloading and put it
up on Rapidshare for free download. It also
came free with and issue of Metal Hammer
magazine. It turned out to be a great success
and a stomper of an album!
