Fresh Connect, one of Whirlpool’s latest
developments, talks about a shared future, in which
people can actively participate in. Creating a better world
using new technologies with the main goal of saving
resources, the concept reveals an entirely
new approach to food conservation.
Fresh Connect contains a series of specialized
accessories connected by a central cooling system with
an online delivery service. This then regulates the right
atmosphere (temperature and humidity level) to
each connected accessory. Shared with several
apartments in the same building, it is beneficial to
everyone, as well the environment.
This is Our Desire For Everything Going Smooth & Clever
in full effect.

Smart street lighting technology company Telensa has
been selected to trial its Public Lighting Active Network
(PLANet) street light central management system (CMS)
in two locations in San Francisco. This basically means
that half of San Francisco’s streets will be illuminated
with smart light poles.
The smart streets signs will automatically adjust the right
settings, while connecting with and learning from each
other. Needless to say, this will save energy and reduce
carbon emissions.
This is what we call the Sensor Revolution.

Iris van Herpen is a one of a kind fashion designer. In her
collections she always manages to integrate the latest
technologies. In her collection ‘Capriole’ (2011) she used
3D-printing techniques to print dresses and shoes.
Hence, all her designs were created with the CAD
drawing program.
Which brings us to an interesting topic: after years of
printing everything, from plastic flutes to complete
buildings (Kamermaker) a pivotal question starts to arise.
What exactly does 3D printing mean for branches such
as fashion and design? Will we print our own couture or
is this just an invention that will stimulate designers to
take the next step?
When we empower ourselves to become
manufacturers, we refer to the Makers Revolution.

In our previous example we raised questions about the
use of 3D printing. Now we are ready for the answers.
It is quite simple: it affects us all.
Whether it goes for printing small, common household
objects or printing complete military devices, the
technology is already omnipresent.
NASA uses it to print chairs in their
spaceships, students are testing it to improve brain
surgery and a company called Not Impossible prints
prosthetic arms for children in conflict regions in South
Sudan.
One can only imagine the possibility of this technology
in the field of architecture, construction
(AEC), industrial
design, automotive, aerospace, military, engineering, ci
vil engineering, dental and medical industries. There’s
no doubt: the new Industrial Revolution is a fact.

The Automatic is a device that connects your smart
phone to your car with a little help from the Link, an auto
accessory that talks to your car through a board
computer, while using your smartphone's GPS and data
plan to upgrade your car's capabilities.
For instance, the Automatic helps you to drive the optimal
speed to avoid traffic jams and it even corrects bad
driving behaviour.
Cars are increasingly becoming computers on wheels.
General Electric (GE) transportation already uses similar
systems to improve their railroad performances.
This is how we will see the Industrial Web grow in the
years to come.
