1. Monday ASSURE Method
A-Analyze Learners: The class consists of 14 students: 7 boys and 7 girls.
None of the students have been diagnosed with any exceptionalities. 70% of
these students are white, 20% are African-American, and 10% are Hispanic.
The average age for students in this class is 6 to 7 years of old. The students
have graduated past the level of Pre-k and kindergarten and are expected to
know and be familiar with the information of the previous grades
successfully; this includes letter and number recognition. Students are also
familiar with classroom tools and equipment such as computers, art
supplies, videos, music, etc. Multiple styles of teaching are present so the
way of teaching will need to be varied to ensure all students’ learning styles
are met to provide equal learning for all.
S- State Objectives: Students in my grade class will understand the basics of
the five senses and will learn what each one does. The students will be able
to identify hearing, tasting, seeing, smelling, and touching by using their five
senses with 95% accuracy within one class period. In addition, since this is
the introduction, the students will become familiar with the five senses
through posters, webquests, and digital imaging.
S-Select Methods, Media, and Materials: The instructor will begin the class
by introducing the objectives to the class so that they know what will be
covered. The poster will be the first tool utilized to show them each sense,
what it is referred to as, and the part of the body that uses it. Next, the
teacher will use a short lecture where the information feeds off the poster.
The teacher will then pull up a webquest that informs the students what will
go on throughout the Unit. The teacher will read through each section of the
WebQuest and will help the students complete the tasks. Finally, the
educator will bring up the digital imaging assignment she has already
completed for the students. This digital imaging assignment is of the nose.
Students will become acquainted with nose and its function as well as
identify with the examples in the digital image.
U- Utilize Media and Materials: The teacher has already printed off and laid
out the poster before class to ensure proper presentation and no waste of
time. The teacher has aligned the desks in an orderly manner to ensure that
all students can see properly, and the lighting in the class is on and
2. appropriately lit. The wequest is pulled on on the computer and the projector
and computer are connecting and projecting successfully. Finally the
projector and computer will also project the digital image successfully
without any problems.
R-Require learner Participation: Students will be spoken to and included in
the discussion with the teacher. They will be asked about the poster and the
imaging to see if they already are familiar with any of the five senses. The
students will also participate in the work the webquest provides for them
with the help of the teacher.
E- Evaluate and Revise: The students will be evaluated based on their efforts
and participation in the discussion during the lecture as well as their
responses and participation with the poster and digital imaging. They will not
be judged on automatic knowledge before we have gone into explanation.
Students will be also evaluated on the work they produce through the
webquests. A certain percentage of their webquest grade will be based on
the completion and effort.
