This document discusses and analyzes the design elements used across a music video and promotional materials for an Afrobeats album. Key design elements like colorful imagery, African prints, and vibrant tones are used to represent the genre in all products. The advertisement, CD cover, and blurb all feature consistent elements that effectively portray the artists and genre without needing to explicitly state it. Keeping the CD design simple balances the bold, colorful packaging. Additional posters with the artists could further engage fans and promote success. The materials work well together as a cohesive promotional package.
2. For this question I will be evaluating how the three
media texts operate as a package in addition I will
be considering how the three texts use similar
themes, content, house style, imagery, tone and
language. I will be evaluating how my three media
texts function as an advertising and promotional
artefact. The main question I will be answering is
how effectively adverts do and CD Digi packs
promote the video product as well as how I will be
extending my products if this was to be released to
the real world, and how will my product compare to
other media products.
3. The genre of the music video itself is AFRO-
BEATS is contemporary African pop music on
this case in French
What a tried to do to summarize my music
video and printed products as one product is to
represent the genre in every form of art through
the way the dancers and actors were dressed
and through my printed products, as a resulted
the outcome of this was to include many African
print clothing and art throughout my pieces.
4. My advertisement products: The colours and text I used within this particular
media product, is to have it correlate with the theme of the song, the genre and
the look of the artists which is colourful and jovial. Personally it would not have
made sense if the main colours used for like the background in this
advertisement was to be black, this is because I see a advertisement being
the representation of the musical product of the artists and what should be
expected of the artists from the audience. More so I decided the advertisement
has to represent my artists in every single way, especially for those for who
have never even heard of their song, and to be able to break the fourth wall I
had to represent my artists in a bright light.
Comparing my product to first case study of the advertisement poster I
analyzed, I mentioned that the genre of the song was presented through every
aspect of the poster without it being obviously written on the side. I took this
into consideration because this allowed the whole album, artist and song
through the poster as one, which was my personal aim because I felt that this
summarized the whole ablum and song as a package which was my aim
without having it being obviously written.

6. My CD case cover is colourful and filled with Africans print this is
to fit the purpose of the genre of my artists. I could have done a
simple colour scheme, however I thought it would not really be
recognisable for the audience’s point of view, and they would
not automatically know it is an afro beats album which
decreases their chances of purchasing the CD. Whilst
conducting my personal research I have learnt that the outlook
of the CD case depends on the success of the song because if it
seems too complicated or it does not correlate with debut music
video the audience will assume the genre of songs will be
consistent; an example of this Cher Lloyd’s album, personally
looking at her CD case it does not really portray the type of song
that will be incorporated on her album, her debut song that was
presented to the public was R&B but her CD case looked like a
pop album and that is the reason why I felt not many people
purchased her album
7. As you can see this is Cher Lloyds
album but it only represents one
aspect of her album and songs
normally an album cover should
represent at least one song or every
song in a way. As I wanted my
album (printed product to be
successful I had to make sure the
art work was relatable to every
aspect of the songs, music video
and the artists. These two front covers not only
represents the genre and the style of the
artist but also represent most of the
songs and elements in the album overall
not just one element. The album on the
left is one of the most successful albums
and has had success and I think the art
of the front cover of the single
represented it well.
8. Album blurb is also parallel to the cover the afro-patterns are
consistent however the use of the colour purple portrays the emotional
and vulnerable side of the album. Even though the songs within the
album says to have fun but the colour used to remind one of their sad
moments- meaning leaving the bad at the back and be like the front
case full of love and bright happiness, never letting the dark and
emotions times of life having an impact on your life and outlook. I feel
that concerning my Blurb I have challenge other CD’s blurb
convection/rules for example Destiny child’s blurb which you can see
has the same pattern that is present on the front. Why have I
challenged such rule, you may ask? I believe that artistically an album
cover and back such portray both of the main emotions and themes
common throughout the track to be able to really break that fourth wall
to be able to excite the audience you need to do something with taste
and meaning, me doing this will not only give the audience awareness
of the genre throughout the album but I would not mentally tire them.
9. As you
can see
the style
on the
front of the
case has
the similar
style at the
back
However both of these
elements are different
because they tell a story
however they still represent
the same thing.
10. CD itself I kept plain, I could of stuck to my original plan of having a
side view image on the CD. During that time I decided to look back at
my case study and I realised that most of them had no image on their
CD. However kept their CD simple with simple details such as, the
name of the artist (s), record label, tracks on the album, the name of
the album and the copy right/trade mark. The reason why I did not
challenge this convection was because I felt that keeping plain and
simple will relax my audience’s eyes, due to the colourful case and
advertisement poster. Keeping that element simple will and not over
crowding the audience with patterns and crazy colours will stress my
audience’s mind and would put them of want to listen to the CD, to
avoid this I used a calm and collected back ground on the CD
alongside the gold writing to represent the value of the artists and the
black writing for the copy right to represent the making and
background help of the tracks on the album allow their brain to relax.

12. Overall I do feel that everything in terms of the
printed products and music video work together
well as a package be it represent the same
things and genre through many elements
mentioned. However if this was to be released
to the real world I would have addition posters
of the artists such as Beyonce and Justin
Bieber have done it is seen like a personal
message and gift to their fans, this has led to
these artists creating solid and loyal fans, which
has made them successful.
