Severn Cullis-Suzuki A very special speaker Watch the video HERE Severn Cullis-Suzuki is a Canadian environmental activist, speaker, television host and author. She has spoken around the world about environmental issues, urging listeners to define their values, act with the future in mind, and take individual responsibility. In 1992, she raised money with members of ECO, to attend the Earth Summit in Rio de Janeiro. There, Severn presented environmental issues from a youth perspective, where she was applauded for a speech to the delegates. The video has since become a viral hit, popularly known as "The Girl Who Silenced the World for 6 Minutes". 8
Portugal 9 Portugal, in Southern Europe, shares the Iberian Peninsula at the western tip of Europe with Spain. Geographically and culturally somewhat isolated from its neighbors, Portugal has a rich, unique culture, lively cities and beautiful countryside. The flag of Portugal is red and green; the Portuguese coat of arms is pictured where the two colors meet. The green symbolizes hope for the future; the red symbolizes the blood of the nation.
Lisbon 10 The capital of Portugal since its conquest from the Moors in 1147, Lisbon is a legendary city with over 20 centuries of history. Lisbon's position on seven low hills beside a river Tagus once lured traders and settlers, and it's still a stunning site. Lisbon is known as the white city, thanks to its unique luminosity. It has a beauty that extends beyond the monuments that can be experienced in the streets that is embraced with all the senses.
Lisbon 11 Lisbon is also the stage for popular festivities, the exquisite shopping, exciting nightlife, and interesting museums, a place from where motorways branch off in different directions.
