on the topics and while you read take notes below on any interesting information.
Topic One: Self Inflicted Wounds
- soldiers would sometimes injure themselves so they would get time out of the trenches

1. Imagine you are a soldier in the trenches. Using your new found knowledge, write a
letter home to a loved one describing what life is like in the trenches.
2. Imagine you are a famous singer coming to cheer up the men in the trenches. After
you have walked around and experienced what the soldiers have experienced, write
and compose a song that describes their situation.
3. Imagine you are an artist during World War One and you hope to capture what the
soldiers really felt and experienced while being in the trenches. Draw a picture, you
may use any medium you wish, that represents what the soldiers’ lives were like in
the trenches.
4. If you had a strong reaction to reading this information, you may also write a poem
that expresses your feelings and describes trench life.
