•What is Technology?
TECHNOLOGY 
• comes from the Greek word “techne” means 
“craft or art”. 
• It is a planned, systematic method of working to 
achieve planned outcomes 
• Refers to all the ways people use their 
inventions and discoveries to satisfy their needs 
and desires.
•What is Media?
MEDIA 
• Are mediating or intervening means through which 
learning impressions are provoked on the part of 
the learner. 
• Means of communicating “messages: from a 
source to a receiver for such purposes as 
information, education, entertainment or business. 
• Are the means for transferring or delivering 
messages.
DISTINGUISH ED TECH AND ED MEDIA 
EDUCATIONAL TECHNOLOGY EDUCATIONAL MEDIA 
Is the study and ethical practice 
of facilitating learning and 
improving performance by 
creating, using and managing 
appropriate technological 
processes and resources. 
Are channels or avenues or 
instruments of communication. 
Is the application of scientific 
knowledge about learning & 
conditions of learning to improve 
the effectiveness & efficiency of 
teaching & training 
Are the means of communication 
available for educational 
purposes other than the teacher 
himself.
DISTINGUISH ED TECH AND ED MEDIA 
EDUCATIONAL TECHNOLOGY EDUCATIONAL MEDIA 
A field of study which is 
concerned with the practice of 
using educational methods & 
resources for the ultimate goal of 
facilitating the learning process. 
Are the means for transferring or 
delivering messages. 
Is a systematic way of designing, 
implementing and evaluating the 
total learning and teaching in terms 
of specific objectives based on 
research in human learning and 
communication; and employing a 
combination of human and non-human 
resources to bring about 
more effective instruction. 
Refers to the channels of 
communication that carry 
messages with an instructional 
purpose.

• Instructional Technology – 
aspect of Educational Technology 
that are concerned primarily with 
instruction as contrasted to design 
and operation of educational 
institutions.

EDUCATIONAL TECHNOLOGY And EDUCATIONAL MEDIA

  • 1. EDUCATIONAL TECHNOLOGY AND EDUCATIONAL MEDIA Reporter: MS. HAZEL ROSE B. COBEROS
  • 3. TECHNOLOGY • comes from the Greek word “techne” means “craft or art”. • It is a planned, systematic method of working to achieve planned outcomes • Refers to all the ways people use their inventions and discoveries to satisfy their needs and desires.
  • 5. MEDIA • Are mediating or intervening means through which learning impressions are provoked on the part of the learner. • Means of communicating “messages: from a source to a receiver for such purposes as information, education, entertainment or business. • Are the means for transferring or delivering messages.
  • 6. DISTINGUISH ED TECH AND ED MEDIA EDUCATIONAL TECHNOLOGY EDUCATIONAL MEDIA Is the study and ethical practice of facilitating learning and improving performance by creating, using and managing appropriate technological processes and resources. Are channels or avenues or instruments of communication. Is the application of scientific knowledge about learning & conditions of learning to improve the effectiveness & efficiency of teaching & training Are the means of communication available for educational purposes other than the teacher himself.

DISTINGUISH ED TECH AND ED MEDIA EDUCATIONAL TECHNOLOGY EDUCATIONAL MEDIA A field of study which is concerned with the practice of using educational methods & resources for the ultimate goal of facilitating the learning process. Are the means for transferring or delivering messages. Is a systematic way of designing, implementing and evaluating the total learning and teaching in terms of specific objectives based on research in human learning and communication; and employing a combination of human and non-human resources to bring about more effective instruction. Refers to the channels of communication that carry messages with an instructional purpose.
  • 8. OTHER CONCEPTS OR ASPECTS OF ED TECH • Instructional Technology – aspect of Educational Technology that are concerned primarily with instruction as contrasted to design and operation of educational institutions.
  • 9. OTHER CONCEPTS OR ASPECTS OF ED TECH • Audio-visual media/technology/aids • Audio-visual “media” stress the use of media as means of communication. • Audio-visual “aids” stress the assistance of educational tools in carrying out instructions.
  • 10. OTHER CONCEPTS OR ASPECTS OF ED TECH • Audio-visual “technology” capitalizes the use of these learning tools in the design, implementation and evaluation of instructional activities.
