1) The movie "Adventure Bound" follows a 22-year old university graduate who rebels against his privileged upbringing by going on an independent sailing trip. However, his boat hits rocks near a deserted island, stranding him.
2) The opening scene would create intrigue by showing the unconscious graduate surfacing in the water with no context, leaving the audience unsure of what happened.
3) The main character, Robert, would be played by Jason Bateman. His parents, pushing him to succeed, would be played by Cameron Diaz and Keanu Reeves.
2. NARRATIVE AND TITLE
The basic story line for my new movie is that a 22
year old boy fresh out of uni has rebelled against his
privileged lifestyle completely supplied by his parents.
He has gone on his first independent voyage.
Adventure Bound is the title of my movie as the boy
sets sail on his trip excited of his new found
independence yet he reaches a new and not
expected destination first, he boat hits rocks just off
shore of a hot deserted island. Then from here on out
it is a thriller of him trying to survive whilst all
authorities are out trying to look for him.
3. ENIGMA/CREATING FIRST INTEREST
The enigma would be clearly shown within the first scene
combined with the title sequence. The opening would begin
with a low angle shot from underneath the water looking up
through the surface and into the shining sun. Then it would
continue with the uni boy unconsciously surfacing to the top –
this would create enigma as the audience are completely
clueless as to what has happened or even if he is alive or not.
Soft instrumental music would be playing in the background to
create a contrast/juxtapostion with the sad story that is about
to unfold. Intertwined with the non-verbal scene the titles
would be shimmering and flowing through the waves fading in
and out individually. After this scene is when the questions
from the enigma begin to unfold as the storyline takes a few
steps back on how the uni boy got there and what his
pressurising family are like.
4. CHARACTER TYPES AND STARS
The main character of Robert (fresh out of uni student) would be played by Jason
Gorden-Levitt. His some sounds quite posh, throughout the film I would show the
contrast of his family and other people by only letting his family (of upper class)
call him Robert whilst he insists on everyone else referring to him as ‘Rob’. The
actor playing the part is known for some of his heart hurting films such as ‘500
days of summer’ and ‘50/50’ as well combined with some more heart racing films
‘inception’ and ‘looper’. These combined would create the perfect mix of acting
skills to shape my thriller/mystery/upsetting film.
For the mother of the lost young man id have Cameron Diaz play the part as she is
very well known which would gain the film some fan viewings to boost ratings. Her
acting in ‘My Sisters Keeper’ would fit this films theme perfectly. Her character
Jane would be a stay at home mum working day in and day out to keep the house
clean and her husband plus only child happy.
I would then finish the family by having Keanu Reeves play the father. He serious
mannerisms and acting in the ‘matrix’ would be a good parallel for the father role
that he would need to portray for this movie. Richard (the character) would be a
hard working city man who takes life extremely seriously and only expects the best
for his son, pushing him to his limits through school and on to uni.

6. MARKETING
I would have universal studios produce my film as they are a well respected and
trusted company that everyone has heard of. This production studio has
conducted a wide variety of successful films.
The marketing scheme I would follow would start with a trailer that would be
released on the internet around 10 months before the movies releases, this
would then be followed up by TV appearances as well as in theatres a month
before the release; at the same time the movie will have an official website to
allow visitors to view multiple versions of the trailer, watch behind-the-scenes
interviews and mini-documentaries plus read plot synopses. This will also be
supported by movie posters within relevant magazines for the target audience
and billboards around crowded areas – this would get the knowledge of the film
releasing out to everyone.
The internet is very powerful therefore most of my advertising of the film will be
based there through social networking sites such as Twitter and FaceBook, this
will enable the movie to gain it much needed published and acknowledgment for
the public.
