1. For thisassignmentwe were toldtomake anewsradioshow for E6 radio.Thisshow neededto
containedcurrentnewsstoriesitmustalsocontaina newsinterview anddifferenttypesof news
techniquesincludingcopyonlyandlive cross.Eachpersonon our groupneededtomake 3 different
newsreportseach.
For my firstreportI made a copy onlyreportthismeansthat itwas a reportwithoutanyaddedin
interviewsitwasjusta reportwithonlyme talking. My firstreportwasabout a Marathon that was
goingto take place inin Manchester centre.IthinkI have done well onthisfirststoryto make it
intercedingtowards mytargetaudience .Iusedthisstoryto attemptto informpeople aboutthe
marathonand the details forit. But my secondary goal wasto persuade youngpeopleinto joinup
and participating.Iincluded inthe reportimportantinformationsuchaswhenitwas held, where it
was heldandhow manypeople are esamatedtoparticipation inthe marathon.
There wasnot much editingthatneededtobe done tothisreportsince I didthe whole storyina
single recording.ButIdidneedtodo thisa few timessince Ididnot thinkItsounded professional
enoughat first. Thiswasbecause I etherstumbled onhe wordsorsaidsomethingthatwasnot on
the script . there wasalsoone take where somebodywalkedintothe recordingstudioandmestup
that take . There was alsotwo differentscriptsforthisreportbecause Ithoughtthatthe firstone
was a little too persuasivewhichmade itsoundmore like anadvertratherthana newsreport.
I thinkthat the soundqualityof thisreportwasgood since itis bothnot too quietor too louder. But
there is a slightecobutthat is because of the areawhere I recordedtoaudio. If I didthisstory
againthenI wouldchange the place where Irecordeditto get ridof that eco.I wouldalsomake sure
that I don’tholdthe scriptso close to the mic because inthe show youcan hear the paperin the
background.
Thisreportgose near the endof the show withall of the sportsnewsthisiswhere thistype of news
wouldbe ina real newsshowwhichmeansthatI have done a goodjobon the placingof thisreport
on myshow.
The secondstory that I did wasthe interview .thisstorywasabout universal pricesthatstudents
wouldneedtopayif theywenttouniversity.The personwhoI interviewed wasLizClinningwhois
the careersadviserforSalfordcitycollege Ecclesdepartment.Ifounditeasyto getin contact with
herto get an interviewall Ididwasask herif she wouldbe willingtobe interviewed andaskedher
whenshe wasfree.Igave herthe questions beforehandsoshe had an ideaaboutwhatI wouldbe
askingso he wasnot stumblingwhenansweringthe questions.
I thinkthat thisreportisgood since itrelateswithmytarget audience wellsince alotof the people
of mytarget audience maybe goingor thinkingaboutgoingsothisisa story that relates directly to
them.Thisreport answers some of the questionsthatstudentsmightbe askinglikehow muchwill it
cost ,howlongitwill be forand howmuch youneedto payback . It is alsogoodbecause I have a
prodfeinalspointof viewonthe subject whichmayputpeoplesmindatease onuniversityprices.
I thinkthat the soundof the reportisgood . I thinkIspeakquite clearso itis easyto understand to
those whoare listening .Thoe that are timeswhenI stumble mywordsor stutterbut thiswill gothe
more timesthatI do the reports. There Is a bit of a problemwiththe soundbecause there isabitof
background noise butconsideringIwas meanttobe the reporterinthe fielditwouldbe onlynatural
2. to hearthisin a newsreport. The onlywayof fixingthiswouldbe tofindabetterlocation or better
soundequipmentbutthatis somethingthatIwouldget if I didthisas a job.The audiointhe
interview wasokbutIthinkit couldhave beenbetter.I thinkthatmy voice inthe interview wasa
little quite where asmyinterviewsvoice wasalittle loud.Thiswasbecause the micwastooclose to
herand I couldn’tedittovolume withoutalsoeditingmyvoice .
I thinkthe questionsthatIaskedwasgood since I ask the questionsthata lotof people wouldlike to
know . I asked5 questionsoverall butIcutone of themout since the questionthataskedshe
already answered inaprivetsquestionsoitwasbetterme cuttingitbecause we don’twantto bore
the audience byrepeatingthe same answer. One thinkthatmay be bad aboutthe interview Itcould
be considered asbeingalittle longsince itisthe longestonourshow . But I thoughtthat all the
informationinthe interviewwasimportantsoI didn’twantto leave thingsout.
My final story isa political storywhich included fox popsforthe public. The storywas aboutthe
legalisationof fox huntingthatthe newtorygovernmentwasthinkingabout appealing.Iwent
aboutthisstory ina agenstpointof view.ThismeansthatI wascompletelyopposedtothisview and
tryingto tell the publicthatitshouldnotbe allowed. Ididthisbyspeakinginanassertive tone of
voice andusingphraseslike Ihope notto tell thatI am agenstit .
Duringthe report I useda pull quote froman expertinthe felidtalkingabout thissubject. This
showsthe publicthatthere are experts whoshearthe same option asme in thisparticularsubject
thiswill helptogetthe pointacross . Andif people thinksomebodyimportantagreeswiththe
statement .
The soundduringthe speakingpartof reportwas quite good.It was clear enoughto understand
whatI’m sayingitis alsothe rightvolume levelnottooloudor quietthismakesitsoundmore
professional because the soundqualityisrite
As formy fox pops the soundqualitydiffersfromeachpersonIquestionssince itwastakenin
differentlocationssosome of themare loudandsome are quite butI have triedto adjustthe sound
levelsasbestas possible tothere isnottoo muchof a drastic difference inthe radioreport.Because
I was questionswasaskedtomembersof publicnotina quietroomthere was some background
noise inthe interviewsthisincludedotherpeople speakingand the soundof windhittingthe mic.
For the fox popsI wentroundthe college askingrandomstudentswhatthere opionwas.I didn’t
wantto ask people whoIknewbecause if Ididthisfor a jobI wouldnotbe able toask friends .I
foundthat mostof the people whoIaskedwouldbe will toanswerthe questionsif youaskedthem
witha mic so I hadno problemwithgetting people. Ithinkthere wasonlyabout4 people whodidn’t
wantto be interviewed soIhad no problemwithgettingpeopletobe interviewed .
One thingthat I foundisthat the best interview answerthatIgot was fromsomebodywhodidnot
supportmy oppionsobecause Ididn’twantto put onsomethingthatwentagenstmyoppionI
neededtocuttheiranswerout of my newsstory. But otherthan thatI thinkthe story wentdown
smoothlyI manage to geta mixture of male andfemale soitwasnot a biosgenderwise andall the
people whoIaskedare the same age as my targetaudience .
Overall Ithinkthe showwentdownwell we manage togeta good range of story’s whichIthinkwe
setin the rightway we startedwithan intowithwasplayedof lightnewsmusictoattract the
3. listeners.Thenfollowedby the hardhittingpolitical newsthatgrabsin the attentiononthe listeners
. Followedbythe entertainmentnewsbyAlex andfinallyendingwiththe sportsnewsandthe outro
againplace in frontof newsmusic. Thisis the same sort of formatthat wouldbe herdona normal
newsprogram. I alsomade twodifferentindentsforthe beginandendof the show thisis
somethingthatiswouldbe seeninradionewsprograms. We splitthe storiesupwell withme doing
the hard political news,Alex doingthe lightentertainmentnewsandJustindoingsportstype news.
It isseeninnewsprogramsfor these differenttypesof newsreportsdone bydifferentpeople .
