1. Target Audience
And classification part 2
Age
Our group will be targeting and age group of 16-25 year olds as they seemed the most appropriate
of target audiences to watch and enjoy our group’s music video, especially after collecting the data
from our questionnaire analyses. We feel as though this age group will find the narrative based
theory of love and happiness interesting and those much more enjoyable than the older generation.
My group and I have looked at other Rihanna and Chris Brown videos and the normal conventions
that apply in each of their videos. The flashing semi-naked images and swearing meant that we
decided to deem their videos at a PG15, which is what we’ll rate our video at.
Ethnicity
The protagonists of our music video casting will be Black rather than Caucasian to imitate the
conventions of a Rihanna or Chris Brown music video as those two artists are black and normally
feature in their music videos with a Lover/ex who is likely to be black. The other reason for keeping
the protagonists Black is because this was the type of peopled that we were able to use for cast in
our music video production. Our video will be shown on Youtube so it would appeal to the audience
of Rihanna’s and Chris Brown’s.
2. Gender
Our main protagonists are both, male and female. We are aiming that our video will appeal to young
males and females as that is what is provided in the music video. We also hope it attracts audience’s
that are in couples or relationships as they may feel that the video related to them.
Nationality/Region
Our cast is from London which does make it easy to appeal to a wide audience as Londoners’ have a
recognisable accent and will appeal to British speaking or understanding individuals all over the
world.
