Introduction

               Daniel Yap, author and photographer, captures emotions and feelings felt by

    one who travels and seeks for food in Malaysia, a country where foods are rich with years

    of heritage and myriads of cultures. Through his photographs, he showed the process of

    food preparations. He caught the natural emotions of the sellers as well as their buyers.



               “Malaysia’s street food is not just food; its years of cultures that was passed

    on through generations, tradition of ages never forgotten and also architecture, the

    architecture of food.”



               The pictures were taken at the busiest streets in town, from the bustling night

    market located at Sunway area, to the infamous Alor Street located along Bukit Bintang.

    Petaling Street, located near to the Central Market, was also ventured by the author.

Good and cheap food can be found at night market. Variety of mouth-watering food
                             waiting you to explore.

The vendor were very busy in preparing the food since he needed to
      handle 2 stoves. The customer can’t waited to have his dinner.

Customers queued up to buy the delicious delicacy.

This vendor was focusing on frying Kueh Tiaw. It is a type of delicious food you
6                                 shouldn’t missed.
Different emotion were shown by
different customers when they enjoying
the delicacy.

Eating along the street is one of the
culture in Malaysia which gives you
different feelings.

Apam Balik, a type of Malay traditional food which the peanut, butter
                       were put on top of the dough.

The vendor was busy in getting orders
       and made Apam Balik.

The vendor was focusing on cutting the Apam Balik that customers have

Another stall sold Apam Balik in a smaller size with different taste.

Kebab, an Arabic food which mixed with Malaysia style has create a different
              type of taste which can cater to the local and the tourist.

Skewered finger food was sold along the street to satisfy one’s appetite
                                    of food.

The vendor was busy preparing the ingredients of Luk luk before the
                  crowd approach to the stall.

Lots of ingredients were placed at the stall including seafood, meat and

Even tourists were willing to try out the food. The vendor were
            introducing the food to the customers.

tourist are enjoying this mouth-
watering fruit.

As the sun started to set, the lights at
the stalls were switched on. By 7:30
p.m, a crowd started to form along the
road, and they consists of mostly
tourists.

Everyone wants to have a taste of local
delicacies.

Customers were enjoying their dinner beside the stall.

A clay pot of steaming mushroom chicken and a Portuguese-style grilled tilapia; that
was a perfect way to end the day. Freshly opened young coconut was the choice of
beverage for many, if not all, customers.
