LESSON PLAN N°1
School:
Class: 3rd Form (Beginners)
Trainee teachers: Piazza, Maria Eugenia and Daniela Czemernicki.
Lesson Date: 29/05/2012
Book: English Adventure 1
Time allotted: fifty minutes.

Communicative Goal: Talking about likes and dislikes.
Grammar focus: I like/ I don’t like
Vocabulary focus: fish, cheese, chicken.
Recycled language: hungry, bear, elephant, tiger, snake, bird, monkey, can, can’t


Activation (5 min)
The teacher will show a poster of different animals. She will elicit their abilities from the students
and will ask about their habits: e.g: Where do they live? What do they eat? They will answer:
They eat leaves or fruit.


Comprehension and clarification: (15 min)
T will ask the students to open their books at page 40. T will ask if they see any animal in the
pictures. Then, she will ask if the students know the characters. Then, she will ask what they
can see in the picture. After that, she will ask some students to act the dialogue between Arthur
and Merlin aloud. Then, T will elicit the examples from the book by asking the students to read
the bubble from picture n°4. Then, students have to read the bubble from picture n°1. The
teacher will write on the board and paste a happy face and a sad face.

The teacher will elicit the function. She will ask: What are Merlin and Arthur expressing? The
moment the students say: “Lo que le gusta y no le gusta” The teacher writes on the board:

Application
Activity 1:                                       Time allotted: 10 min

Type: pseudo-communicative

Brief explanation: Ss will look at the story on page 40 and complete this quiz in the computers
lab. Then, in pairs, they will act the story out.

Activity 2:                                         Time allotted: 7 min
Name: complete the sentences.
Type: pseudo-communicative
Focus: reading and writing
Pattern of interaction: individual work
Brief explanation: Students will have to complete the sentences about likes and dislikes.
Reflection:                          Time allotted: 5 min
SS will have to tick the sentences that express likes and dislikes

I like banana.
My name is Mary.
I don’t like fish and cheese.
I have got blue eyes.


                                        LESSON PLAN N°2

School:
Class: 3rd Form

Time allotted: fifty minutes.

Vocabulary focus: Food (cheese, chicken, pizza, sandwich, orange juice, bread, biscuits,
banana, ice cream, milk, salad)
Recycled language: hungry, bear, elephant, tiger, snake, bird, monkey, can, can’t

Activation (5 min)


The T will write on the board the word: Argentinian Food. Then, she will brainstorm all the items
of food that belong to our country.


Comprehension and clarification: (15 min)

The T will draw part of each of the item of food, so as Ss can guess what item it is. Once the Ss
guess (probably they will say the word in Spanish) the T will tell them the word in English, she
will write the name of the food next to each item on the board, and will ask Ss to complete her
drawing on the board.
So as to end up this part, she will ask Ss “What do you like?” referring to the items they have
already seen.


Application
Activity 1:                                        Time allotted: 15 min

Focus: reading
Pattern of interaction: whole class work
Brief explanation: Ss will look at the song on page 41. Then they will listen to the song twice.
The first time just to get an idea of the song. the second time, they will sing it with the teacher.
Activity 2:                   Time allotted: 5 min

Type: pseudo-communicative
Focus: reading
Pattern of interaction: pair work at the computer lab
Brief explanation: Students will have to complete the food that is mentioned in the song. While,
completing the exercise, they will have the song playing as background music.
Activity 3:                   Time allotted: 5 min

Type: pseudo-communicative
Focus: reading and writing
Pattern of interaction: pair work at the computer lab
Brief explanation: Students will have to match each item of the food with their names.




Reflection:                                      Time allotted: 5 min

SS will have to tick the sentences that talk about food.

LESSON PLAN N°3

School:

Book: English Adventure 1
Time allotted: fifty minutes.

Communicative Goal: asking about likes and dislikes
Grammar focus: Do you like...?
Vocabulary focus: Food(cheese, chicken, pizza, sandwich, orange juice, bread, biscuits,
banana, ice cream, milk, salad)
Recycled language: hungry, bear, elephant, tiger, snake, bird, monkey, can, can’t - I like - I don’t
like - Food(cheese, chicken, pizza, sandwich, orange juice, bread, biscuits, banana, ice cream,
milk, salad)

Activation (5 min)

The T will show the Ss pictures of food and she will divide the board into two columns, on the
one hand will say HEALTHY FOOD =) and on the other hand UNHEALTHY FOOD =(. So she
will ask Ss to come to the board and classify the food according to if they are healthy or
unhealthy. If necessary, she will clarify these concepts before.

Comprehension and clarification: (19 min)

The T will ask Ss to look at the dialogue between Merlin and Arthur on page 40. The T will elicit
the examples from the book by asking the Ss to read the question in the bubbles from picture N°
2 and 3. Then, the T will write them on the board and will elicit the communicative goal by
asking the Ss “What are we expressing here?” She will write that on the board.

                                  Asking about likes and dislikes

                -    Do you like fish?


                -    Do you like chicken?

Brief explanation: ss will have to look for ten items of food in the crossword given.
Activity 3:     allotted      Time alloted: 5 min
Name: A survey
Type. quasi-communicative
Focus: reading and writing
pattern of interaction: individual work
brief explanation: The ss will look at the survey on page 45 of their book, they will have to
answer the questions about themselves and try to see which score they get. After that, they will
do a whole class work in which the T will ask the ss to compare their answers.




Reflection:                                     Time allotted: 5 min
SS will have to tick the sentences that ask about likes and dislikes

Then, she will brainstorm all the items of food that belong to our country. Comprehension and clarification: (15 min) The T will draw part of each of the item of food, so as Ss can guess what item it is. Once the Ss guess (probably they will say the word in Spanish) the T will tell them the word in English, she will write the name of the food next to each item on the board, and will ask Ss to complete her drawing on the board. So as to end up this part, she will ask Ss “What do you like?” referring to the items they have already seen. Application Activity 1: Time allotted: 15 min Name: Song Type: pseudo-communicative Focus: reading Pattern of interaction: whole class work Brief explanation: Ss will look at the song on page 41. Then they will listen to the song twice. The first time just to get an idea of the song. the second time, they will sing it with the teacher.

While, completing the exercise, they will have the song playing as background music.

Vocabulary focus: Food(cheese, chicken, pizza, sandwich, orange juice, bread, biscuits, banana, ice cream, milk, salad) Recycled language: hungry, bear, elephant, tiger, snake, bird, monkey, can, can’t - I like - I don’t like - Food(cheese, chicken, pizza, sandwich, orange juice, bread, biscuits, banana, ice cream, milk, salad) Activation (5 min) The T will show the Ss pictures of food and she will divide the board into two columns, on the one hand will say HEALTHY FOOD =) and on the other hand UNHEALTHY FOOD =(. So she will ask Ss to come to the board and classify the food according to if they are healthy or unhealthy. If necessary, she will clarify these concepts before. Comprehension and clarification: (19 min) The T will ask Ss to look at the dialogue between Merlin and Arthur on page 40. The T will elicit the examples from the book by asking the Ss to read the question in the bubbles from picture N° 2 and 3. Then, the T will write them on the board and will elicit the communicative goal by asking the Ss “What are we expressing here?” She will write that on the board. Asking about likes and dislikes - Do you like fish? - Do you like chicken? Do + you + like + food?

After that, they will do a whole class work in which the T will ask the ss to compare their answers. Reflection: Time allotted: 5 min SS will have to tick the sentences that ask about likes and dislikes Do you like biscuits? He can climb Do you like football?
