When one of the X-Men films came out, people were asked in the street what superpowers they would like to have:
But perhaps this is how many of us feel: we have no talents.
If so, then listen to the words of someone else who said he had no special talents:
It isn’t true that we have no talents. It’s what we do with them that matters. Four months before Amy Winehouse died, she recorded a duet with Tony Bennett. After her tragic early death at the age of 27, Bennett in an interview recalled how he had been ‘almost the Amy Winehouse of [his] day’. One thing changed his life:
Bennett was speaking with a man called Jeff Rawlins, who had been the manager of the controversial 1960s comedian Lenny Bruce. Rawlins said of Bruce: “He sinned against his talent.”So – either we say we have no talent, or we ‘sin against our talent’. Both are terrible mistakes. God did not make anyone without gifts and talents. Let us not deny what God has done, nor misuse what God has done. Instead, let us put them into effect for the sake of his kingdom.
