2. Pet Rescue
Sept. 8th 2013
A family in Northern Wisconsin found this
starving, critically ill dog wandering around
their yard. They immediately contacted the
local sheriff’s office and Catkins Animal
Rescue.
The staff acted quickly to admit him to the
Country Care Pet Hospital. They believe he is
between 4-5 years old. Since his name is
unknown, they called him Kirby.
3. Kirby’s Condition
It was clear from the beginning that Kirby needed a lot of help. He had a kidney
malfunction, multiple infections, a ruptured ear drum, Lyme’s disease, starvation
induced muscle loss and possible organ damage. His face was disfigured due to a
staph infection, which caused hair loss and exposure to the elements.
In spite of all of these problems, Kirby is a sweet and loving boy. As the staff worked
on his medical issues, he soon found enough strength to wag his tail. His strong will to
survive was obvious to everyone involved in his care.
4. Woof!
Because of the loving care he receives, Kirby’s health is improving.
He even managed to greet his caregivers with a big woof this past
weekend. However, his vet bills are climbing and they are putting a
financial strain on Catkins, which is a small, rural animal shelter.
