Plumrose is a nation wide business, so it is neat to have one located in Booneville.
Booneville is definitely shaped around the college. We would not be near as big as we are if we did not have Northeast Mississippi Community College.
Booneville has their own television station, known as TV53. It broadcasts as part of the UBN network. It has been here for over 20 years.
Booneville has a Baptist Memorial Hospital which includes many doctors offices, an emergency room, and hospital rooms.
This is Travis Childers Realty Office. It is neat to have this in Booneville since he is now part of the Congress.
The Prentiss County Chancery Clerk’s office is located inside the newly remodeled building. This building served for many years as the Booneville Post Office. Congressman Travis Childers served as Chancery Clerk in Prentiss County for many years before being elected to Congress.
This is the Prentiss County Courthouse. Many things go on inside this building! Some of these things are Chancery and Circuit Court, Youth Court, and Prentiss County School Board meetings. In 2004-2005, the courthouse was completely renovated and restored to its original design. There are three offices in this building also. They are the Prentiss County Circuit Clerk, Prentiss County Tax Assessor, and the Prentiss County Tax Collector.
Prentiss County native and Vietnam War veteran, J.W. Jacobs was responsible for getting a Vietnam War era Huey helicopter to serve as a memorial for Prentiss County Vietnam War Veterans. It is located in front of the Courthouse. It has been put there since the renovation.
This is an old railroad car in downtown Booneville. Beside it is the Rails and Trails Museum which contains railroad memorabilia. Many people come to this train car to take some of their Senior pictures.
The Chamber of Commerce is responsible for information for visitors and for the beautification of downtown. They are in charge of all the parades and the fall festival.
This sign in downtown talks about when Booneville was captured.
This is the sign in Booneville that explains where we got our name and when we became a city.
This is an old store in downtown Booneville. A long time ago when Sadie owned it, Elvis Presley hung out here. Elvis and Sadie were close friends.
This is Cox-Blythe Drugstore. This is the oldest drug store in Booneville. The amazing thing is it has survived through three or four more drugstores coming into Booneville.
This is one of the oldest buildings in downtown Booneville. It went out of business in the last five years and is now being used for the art shows!
This is the Banner-Independent, or the Booneville newspaper. It has been around since 1898.
This street was named after Coach Billy Ward in honor of his many years of coaching at Booneville High School. He has done many good things for Booneville and the surrounding communities.
This is a memorial garden Coach Ward put up for our community on the site of the original national guard armory. This is located on the corner of the street that was named after him. This memorial garden is for the soldiers who were killed from Prentiss County in the Korean War.
This is the memorial with all the names of soldiers from Prentiss County that were killed during the Korean War.

When Hunter Mayo was in the 6th grade at Hills Chapel School, he was killed in an automobile accident. I was in the 5th grade at Hills Chapel, and I remember how it turned that school upside down. Hunter was a great kid who would do anything to help other people. Hunter was a big athlete. He played baseball at the park since he was very young. They had a memorial service on the 9 and 10 year old baseball field. This is now the Hunter Mayo Memorial Field.
