Welcome to the Media Center!    My name is Mrs. King and I am the Media Specialist at Woodland Elementary Charter School. This presentation will introduce you to our procedures in the media center.
Media Center Pass When you enter the media center, you must have a media center pass. You get this from your teacher. If you do not have a pass, you will be asked to go back to the classroom to get one.
The Circulation Desk ,[object Object],[object Object],[object Object],[object Object]
Signage The signs on the walls and on top of the shelves will help you locate the section that you are looking for.
Helpful hint! Many of our students enjoy books about animals. We have placed stuffed animal figures above our nonfiction animal books. If you are looking for a book on animals, come to this corner!
Another helpful hint! Popular books are located in the triangular shelving next to the book return. You may browse these without a shelf marker and check out one that you like.
Magazines Current magazines are located on our magazine racks in red folders. These are not available for checkout. Raise the shelf to find older issues of the magazine. These are available for checkout. Gently lower the shelf so that is closes quietly. Only students in 3rd – 5th grades can check out a magazine.
Checking out books Students in grades 1 – 5 may check out 2 books at a time and keep them for 2 weeks. Once you have selected the items you would like to check out, return to the circulation desk. Put your shelf marker back in the container.
Due Date When you are checking out a book, you will place a due date card in the back of your book. The card is stamped with the date that the book is due back in the media center.
Checking out a magazine When you check out a magazine, you will be given a blue envelope to place the magazine in. The envelope will protect the magazine. Return the magazine in the envelope and drop the envelope in the book drop. You may keep the magazine for 2 week.
Returning books & magazines When it is time to return your books and magazines, you will place the books in the book drop.
Classes If you come into the media center with your teacher for a lesson, this is the area in which you will sit.
The Media Center Our Media Center is open everyday from 7:15 a.m. until 2:15 p.m. We offer a vast selection of books to our students. If you can’t find what you are looking for or if you have any questions, please see Mrs. King, the Media Specialist, or Mrs. Hilton, the Media Clerk.
