1. CHAPTER SIX: THE LISTENING PROCESS
1. What is active listening?
- An active listening is the student that shows up on time for class, so he could
listen when the professor makes important announcements. Before class ask
yourself what you want to achieved. Record information if you miss
information leave them in blank then you can return later and ask about it.
Ask questions if you don’t understand the subject. Express interest about in
the subject, keep eye contact.
2. What is passive listening?
- A passive listening doesn’t seem to be absorbing anything about the subject,
doesn’t have eye contact with the professor they seem like they doesn’t care.
They are always listening to radio, TV. The listener assumes that he has
heard and understood correctly and does not interact or seek verification.
They are half- listening while be doing something else.
3. What is your note taking style?
- My note taking style is Cornell T- note system because I can write down as
much information as I can and separated by importance. I learn better if I see
a lot of information, notes in what I think is important, keywords, examples,
link ideas or diagrams and finally summarizing all my notes.
4. How do you memorize information for tests?
- I study a week before the test, so wherever I go to the supermarket, mall or
even watching TV, I take my notes and when I have time I read them. I recite
everything I have learned, then I study a little more in some areas that I didn't
understood. Even few minutes before the test I try to read and memorize as
much as I can.
