PURPOSE
The purpose of this assignment is
to expose our fellow students to
emerging technologies and to
create an opportunity for students
to utilize their professional written
business communication skills.
SCOPE
The report you are about to read
contains information on a subject
that has helped many of the most
successful people in the world climb
to the top of their fields, social
networking. Today, it is more
important than ever to have credible
contacts with good ideas and
knowledgeable information in the
professional and social arenas of
everyday life.
METHOD OF GATHERING
INFORMATION
As a group, we do have
assigning each two members to
have the research work about our
chosen topic. The other two should
analyze those researches. And, the
four of us did the editing and the
final formal meeting paper.
In this formal report, we are
about to tackle the definition of a
social network wherein it is a social
structure made up of individuals (or
organizations) called "nodes", which
are tied (connected) by one or more
specific types of interdependency
such as friendship, kinship, common
interest, financial exchange, dislike,
sexual relationship.
Definition of a Social Network
If someone were asked to give the
definition of a social network, he or she
would have a hard time doing so. The
majority of people today contribute to a
social network in some form. According
to one source, “a social network is made
up of individuals or organizations that are
connected through various social
contacts ranging from casual
acquaintances to family members”
(Dickerson, 2006).

Web Site
One of the primary contributions
to social networking is through the
internet. “A social networking site
is an online place where a user can
create a profile and build a personal
network that connects him or her to
other users” (Lenhart, 2007).
Social Networking Websites
Presently, one of the most
popular social networking
communities on the web is
MySpace. Users can create a
private profile with personal photos,
journal entries; and a description of
themselves, their interests, and
music.
Social networking a worthy venture for
businesses
Should big businesses cash-in on
the social networking movement? It
would seem so. The advertising
capabilities alone have already proven
themselves to be profitable ventures.
Some may even say that ads already
litter these sites, causing them to be a
bit cumbersome; but for businesses
marketing their products and/or
services, this is a good thing.
Online social networking sites
are an integral part of many
people’s daily lives. Whether surfers
use these websites for business or
pleasure, or for making new
connections or salvaging old ones,
they undoubtedly enjoy the ease
with which they can do so.
Future researchers may want to
consider the ways in which social
networking sites affect productivity
in the workplace. Should businesses
ban or limit employees from visiting
social networking sites while on the
clock? Another concern is the
extent to which employers should
be permitted to monitor their
workers’ personal sites.

  • 4. PURPOSE The purpose of this assignment is to expose our fellow students to emerging technologies and to create an opportunity for students to utilize their professional written business communication skills.
  • 5. SCOPE The report you are about to read contains information on a subject that has helped many of the most successful people in the world climb to the top of their fields, social networking. Today, it is more important than ever to have credible contacts with good ideas and knowledgeable information in the professional and social arenas of everyday life.
  • 6. METHOD OF GATHERING INFORMATION As a group, we do have assigning each two members to have the research work about our chosen topic. The other two should analyze those researches. And, the four of us did the editing and the final formal meeting paper.
  • 7. In this formal report, we are about to tackle the definition of a social network wherein it is a social structure made up of individuals (or organizations) called "nodes", which are tied (connected) by one or more specific types of interdependency such as friendship, kinship, common interest, financial exchange, dislike, sexual relationship.
  • 8. Definition of a Social Network If someone were asked to give the definition of a social network, he or she would have a hard time doing so. The majority of people today contribute to a social network in some form. According to one source, “a social network is made up of individuals or organizations that are connected through various social contacts ranging from casual acquaintances to family members” (Dickerson, 2006).
  • 9. Definition of a Social Networking Web Site One of the primary contributions to social networking is through the internet. “A social networking site is an online place where a user can create a profile and build a personal network that connects him or her to other users” (Lenhart, 2007).
  • 10. Social Networking Websites Presently, one of the most popular social networking communities on the web is MySpace. Users can create a private profile with personal photos, journal entries; and a description of themselves, their interests, and music.
  • 11. Social networking a worthy venture for businesses Should big businesses cash-in on the social networking movement? It would seem so. The advertising capabilities alone have already proven themselves to be profitable ventures. Some may even say that ads already litter these sites, causing them to be a bit cumbersome; but for businesses marketing their products and/or services, this is a good thing.
  • 12. Online social networking sites are an integral part of many people’s daily lives. Whether surfers use these websites for business or pleasure, or for making new connections or salvaging old ones, they undoubtedly enjoy the ease with which they can do so.
  • 13. Future researchers may want to consider the ways in which social networking sites affect productivity in the workplace. Should businesses ban or limit employees from visiting social networking sites while on the clock? Another concern is the extent to which employers should be permitted to monitor their workers’ personal sites.
