Brand your Profile Custom URL: Your LinkedIn URL should appear as http://linkedin.com/in/yourfullname. Headline: Your headline will automatically be displayed as the last job you’ve had, unless you change it manually. Picture: people want to see your face Summary: Your summary should include a brief paragraph summarizing your work experience Experience:  Don’t just list the past few jobs you’ve had Keywords:  You should flood your entire LinkedIn profile with keywords because recruiters and other individuals will be using LinkedIn as a talent search engine Recommendations: The truth is they are very significant because when a recruiter searches for talent, they will view and identify profiles that havea“thumbs up” Develop your Network Import your contacts: LinkedIn allows you to important contacts from email Be open and available: Be available and open to accepting contact requests and continuing conversations,. Leave your email address: People cannot add you to their network without your email address, Promote your URL: Take your distinct URL public Update your status: Make sure that your LinkedIn status message is extremely professional
Make a decision whether to keep Facebook social or expand your use. Take a close look at your Profile and decide what you want business contacts or prospective employers to see Create a simple profile (or clean up with your existing one) with minimal graphics and widgets. Limit the photos you post. Post content relevant to your job search or career. (Keeps it non-controversial!) Use Facebook email to build relationships with your Friends. Choose your Friends wisely. Remember your Friends can see information about your other Friends in your Profile. Join and participate in Groups relevant to your position.
Ten Steps for New User  Find People You Already Know Find Like-minded Users Find People in the Area Get a Desktop (or Mobile) Client Learn the ropes Tweet often (between 2-10 times per day is considered reasonable Have a healthy followers/following ratio Have a substantial network of relevant people Keep a healthy balance between personal and professional tweets Doesn’t just update, but also responds to others and generally seems to get Twitter
Make sure that a search does not lead to something controversial Leads to profession-related discussions  Lead to your online blog, webpage or social media profiles Doesn’t come up blank
Start ASAP! Create fully completed LinkedIn, Facebook and Twitter profiles. Shed your preconceived notions of keeping your work and home life separate. Companies want people, not resumes.  Use social media to its fullest – update often, connect with others and stay active.  Don’t stop ever (even if you’re happily employed and aren’t looking for new work). Establishing and maintaining a social media footprint is not an act, it’s a process. Just like your career evolves, so should your Social Media Footprint.
