2. You are invited to check your publication list in Pure
A prescreen of publications of before 2014, has been done by the
Central Medical Library (CMB) and the University Library (UB).
The checklist will guide you through the process of checking your
publications in Pure and managing them.

1. Have I activated my profile page (MePa ) to display my current publications
in Pure ?
2. Can you login in Pure?
3. Is my publication list complete?
4. Am I missing more than 25 publications?
5. Am I missing publications available in an online source?
6. Am I missing a publication that I have written with a colleague?

1: Have I activated my profile page (MePa ) to display my
current publications in Pure ?
Yes -> In that case your publications are shown on your MePa.
No:->
•Go to MyUniversity.rug.nl and login with your P-number in the top right
corner.
•Click on your name in the top-right corner.
•Choose ‘View Your Profile Page’
•Choose ‘Edit Publication Page’
•Check the box ‘Show publications on your profile page’ AND SAVE!

You can access Pure at https://pure.rug.nl/admin.
Before doing so, please check the list with names on theUMCG intranet (Are you
checking this on a University computer?
Log in with your P-number here to be abled to go to the Intranet).
If your name is on the list, use the UMCG button to log in with your UMCG-account
If your name is not on the list, please use the University of Groningen button to
log in with your P-number.

Are you logged in?
Yes ->You will enter your Pure dashboard where you can manage your
research output, your profile and your CV.
No - > If you have problems with logging into Pure, please contact Guus van
den Brekel , Medical Information Specialist and UMCG Coordinator for Etalage
at the Central Medical Library (cmb@umcg.nl, with subject: ‘Pure login’)

Yes -> the only thing you have to do is adding future publications to the list.
We advice you to activate ‘Automated Search’. This will –when listed with
your most common name variations- give you a weekly alert (in Pure itself or
via email) about possible new publications with you as author.
- Login into Pure
- Go to Edit Profile
- Click on ‘Automated Search’ in the Left Menu
- Select ‘Web of Science’, click on ‘ENABLE’ and add your name variations

We strongly advice you to always import your publications from the
online source Web of Science first if possible,
because of it’s rich metadata ánd because it will update your citations
on your page

No ->We advice you to active ‘Automated Search’.
This is the best and easiest way to get your missing publications into Pure.
See the item above about how to activate ‘Automated Search’.
The manual describes four ways to add a new publication; claiming an existing
publication, importing a publication from an online source, importing a
publication from a file or adding a publication from a template (manually).

Yes -> please contact us via cmb@umcg.nl.
We will come back to you and solve this issue together as soon as possible.

5. Am I missing publications available in an online
source?
(For example in Web of Science, PubMed or Embase.)
Yes -> please import the missing publications from that source one by one.
It saves time and prevents errors. We strongly advice to always import your
publications from the online source Web of Science first, because of it’s rich
metadata ánd because it will update your citations on your page).
You can read more about importing form online sources in the manual.
No -> continue to the next question.

6. Am I missing a publication that I have written with a
colleague?
Yes -> please have a look in Pure for the publication. Maybe your colleague
misspelled your name or forgot to add you as an author. You can claim this
publication. You can read how to claim a publication in the manual.
No -> continue to the next question.

7. Can I import a file that contains the missing 1 of 2
publications?
(For example a Bibtex or RIS file)
Yes ->First make sure the publications are not available from one of the TEN
online sources available in Pure.
Then import the missing publication from that file one by one. It saves time
and prevents errors.
You can read how to import a Bibtex or RIS file in the manual.

7. Can I import a file that contains the missing 2 of 2
publications?
No ->Did you check Google Scholar too? Please check the FAQs section about
Import to find more options.
If all fails, there is no other way than entering the publications manually. You
can read how to enter a publication from a template in the manual.
Note: Make sure you include only the missing publications in the file. It will
save time. If you use a file with all your publications, Pure will warn you when
you try to import a publication that is already on your list.

8. Can I add the full text or the post-print?
Yes ->We encourage you to add the full text or the post-print. The library
will then check if and when these texts will be available on your Profile Page
(based on the Sherpa/Romeo site; taking into account possible embargo’s et
cetera).

9. Is your personal data incorrect?
Yes -> personal information like your telephone and room number is
maintained by Facility Management in Planon.
You can change this information via FacilityNet.
Personal information like your first name or job history is maintained by
Human Resource Management in Peoplesoft. You can change this
information via HR Self Service Menu or via MyUniversity.
