The document discusses closing the gap in interoperability between Second Life and the web. Libraries have long offered various interfaces and search options; they now have an opportunity to create format-agnostic and platform-independent services. The author warns against waiting for new social web 3D browsers to emerge before responding to new technologies, as happened with web 2.0.
