The Malta Tourism Authority came to our social media agency with the challenge of delivering a multilingual, multiplatform Facebook Social Media Campaign for Christmas 2013 to promote & advance Malta as a tourism destination.
We designed, built & implemented a multilingual Advent calendar which enabled us to successfully achieve the campaign objectives including lead generation, fan-base growth & customer engagement in major European markets.
The key results of the campaign include;
- Over 53,000 entries
- Over 9000 new page likes & low rate of ‘unlikes’ post campaign shows that correct audience was acquired
- Facebook advertising activities delivered an audience reach of 2.247 million
- Social PR potential audience reach of 2.735 million
- Brand new audiences acquired for Visit Malta with 1.25% increase in new visitors to website during campaign. This trend continued significantly with 45.04% increase in new website visits post campaign.. and much more.

6. The Campaign – Advent Calendar
Each day Facebook visitors would be able to
open a door on the advent calendar to see if
they had won a prize
We worked with Visit Malta to publicise 24
fantastic days worth of prizes across 5
European languages
Entrants revisited on multiple days to be in
with another chance of winning with an
average of 3.4 entries per person

7. Set-up
We needed to find a suitable app that delivered an
optimal online and mobile experience and could
effectively and automatically deliver specific
language content to the entrant based on their
location
We designed and built the App in short timescales
owing to the time bound nature of the campaign
We worked with offices across Europe to implement
the App within their own Facebook pages

With many of our campaigns we seek out
partnerships with complimentary brands
that can offer incentives and exposure. We

their own social channels for Visit Malta
