2. INTRODUCTION
• The Internet of Things(IoT) refers to the interconnection of
uniquely identifiable embedded computing devices within
the existing internet infrastructure.
• They are the things having identities and virtual
personalities operating in smart spaces using intelligence
interfaces to connect and communicate within social,
environmental and user contexts.
• Internet of Things is the future generation of internet
helping to compress the entire world into a single unit. This
is significant step towards global unification.
• Applications of IoT include:
Dynamic control of industry and daily life.
Improves resources utilization.
Act as technology integrators etc.
3. TRENDS
• The Internet of Things is emerging as a large wave in the development
of the internet. It has the potential to connect to as many as 28 billion
”things” to the internet by 2020.
• IoT shall become more secure with the betterment of technology and
advancement in the field of Cryptology and Encryption.
• In future generation of internet applications using IPv6 would be able
to communicate with devices attached to virtually all human-made
objects because of the extremely large address space of IPv6 protocol.
• Wireless sensors and devices are getting smaller smarter and cheaper,
producing billions of data points. Machine to Machine(M2M)
communication i.e., devices talking to each other.
• I expect IoT to make a big impact in the service based sector and the
production sector because people can now order anything they want
sitting at their home and can compare products of different
companies and select the best one.
4. INTEREST AREAS
• Artificial Intelligence, Home Automation and
Automotive are the areas under IoT that I am
interested.
• I would like to take the opportunity to learn basics in
each areas specified and try to build from there as a
tem altogether. I wish to participate in live projects
into the practical IT world and services.
• Cloud connectivity, turn-key software and
customized hardware modules are the only basic
requirements for IoT.
