the sin offering, and the two rams and the basket of
unleavened bread,
• Consecration unto service of YHWH is serious
• Exodus 18:2 And Jethro, Moses' father-in-law, took
Moses' wife Zipporah… 3 and her two sons …named
Gershom… 4 And …Eliezer, …Moses' father-in-law,
came with his sons and his wife …coming to you with

farewell, and he went his way into his own land.
7. Leviticus 8:3, All Israel
• Leviticus 8:3 and assemble all the
congregation…
• The whole nation came out.
8. Leviticus 8:6, Washed With Water
• Leviticus 8:6 Then Moses had Aaron and his sons
come near and washed them with water.
• They were completely washed to consecrate
them (justification), then they would daily be
washing their hands and feet to maintain holiness
(sanctification). 1 John 1:9
• John 13:9 Simon Peter said to Him, "Lord, then
wash not only my feet, but also my hands and my
head.“10 Jesus said to him, "He who has bathed
needs only to wash his feet, but is completely
clean; and you are clean, but not all of you."
9. Leviticus 8:6-7
Cleansed, Clothed, Equipped
• Leviticus 8:6-9 …washed them with water.

of God… 14 Stand firm therefore, HAVING GIRDED YOUR
LOINS WITH TRUTH, and HAVING PUT ON THE
BREASTPLATE OF RIGHTEOUSNESS, 15 and having shod
YOUR FEET WITH THE PREPARATION OF THE GOSPEL
OF PEACE; 16 in addition to all, taking up the shield of
faith … 17 And take THE HELMET OF SALVATION, and
the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God. 18
With all prayer and petition pray…19 and pray on my
behalf, …to make known with boldness the mystery of
the gospel,
11. The High Priest
(Exodus 28:1-43; 39:1-31)
The high priest’s life was
dedicated to serving the
Lord and representing the
people before their God.
The design of the priestly
garments was an expression
of God’s righteousness and
merciful love for his people.
12. The High Priest
Tunic:
The priest dressed first in
a checkered tunic of
fine linen. (Exodus 28:39)
Robe:
Over the tunic, the
priest wore a blue robe
with golden bells and
pomegranates.
(Exodus 28:31-34)
13. Leviticus 8:8, Urim and the Thummim
• Leviticus 8:8 He then placed
the breastpiece on him, and
in the breastpiece he put the
Urim and the Thummim.
15. Urim and Thummim
Easton’s Bible Dictionary

28:30 De 33:8 Jud 1:1 20:18 1Sa 14:3,18 23:9 2Sa 21:1 What the
"Urim and Thummim" were cannot be determined with any
certainty. All we certainly know is that they were a certain divinely-
given means by which God imparted, through the high priest,
direction and counsel to Israel when these were needed. The
method by which this was done can be only a matter of mere
conjecture. They were apparently material objects, quite distinct
from the breastplate, but something added to it after all the stones
had been set in it, something in addition to the breastplate and its
jewels. They may have been, as some suppose, two small images,
like the teraphim (comp.) Jud 17:5 18:14,17,20 Ho 3:4 which were
kept in the bag of the breastplate, by which, in some unknown way,
the high priest could give forth his divinely imparted decision when
consulted. They were probably lost at the destruction of the temple
by Nebuchadnezzar. They were never seen after the return from
captivity.
16. Exodus 28:30, Urim and the Thummim
• Exodus 28:30 "You shall put in the breastpiece
of judgment the Urim and the Thummim, and
they shall be over Aaron's heart when he goes
in before the LORD; and Aaron shall carry the
judgment of the sons of Israel over his heart
before the LORD continually.
17. The High Priest
Breastplate and
Urim and Thummim:
The gold breastplate
of judgment hung
from chains of pure
gold, twisted like
cords. In the
breastplate were the
Urim and Thumim.

Inside the
breastplate were
twelve stones
representing the
twelve tribes of
Israel.

19. Receiving God’s Guidance
• Four Principles For Receiving God’s Guidance, by Larry Sarver
• “A flight attendant spent a week’s vacation in the Rockies. She was
captivated by the mountain peaks, the clear blue skies, and the
sweet smelling pines. But she also was charmed by a very eligible
bachelor who owned and operated a cattle ranch and lived in a log
cabin. At the end of this week, Mr. Wonderful proposed. But it had
all happened so quickly that the woman decided to return home
and to her job, feeling that she would somehow be guided to make
the right decision. The next day, in flight, she found herself
wondering what to do. To perk up, she stopped in the rest room
and splashed some cool water on her face.
• There was some turbulence and a sign in the rest room lit up:
PLEASE RETURN TO THE CABIN. She did–to the cabin back in the
mountains
20. Leviticus 8:10, Tabernacle
• Leviticus 8:10 Moses then took the anointing
oil and anointed the tabernacle and all that
was in it, and consecrated them.
• Exodus uses “tabernacle” 55X’s, yet only 3
uses in Leviticus.
• John 1:14 And the Word became flesh, and
dwelt among us, and we saw His glory, glory
as of the only begotten from the Father, full of
grace and truth.
21. Leviticus 8:12, Anointing Oil On Aaron
• Leviticus 8:12 Then he poured some of the anointing
oil on Aaron's head and anointed him, to consecrate
him.
• Psalm 133:1 A Song of Ascents, of David. Behold, how
good and how pleasant it is For brothers to dwell
together in unity! 2 It is like the precious oil upon the
head, Coming down upon the beard, Even Aaron's
beard, Coming down upon the edge of his robes. 3 It is
like the dew of Hermon Coming down upon the
mountains of Zion; For there the LORD commanded
the blessing-- life forever.
22. Leviticus 8:12, Anointing Oil On Aaron
• Leviticus 8:12 Then he poured some of the
anointing oil on Aaron's head and anointed
him, to consecrate him.
• Leviticus 8:12, Anointing of Aaron with oil ( I
think of the Holy Spirit).
• Leviticus 8:23, Anointing of Aaron with blood (
I think of the Son).
• He is then ready to serve God.
23.
24. Leviticus 8:22, Ordination
• Leviticus 8:22 Then he presented the second ram,
the ram of ordination, and Aaron and his sons
laid their hands on the head of the ram.

• Leviticus 8:24 He also had Aaron's sons come near; and
Moses put some of the blood on the lobe of their right
ear, and on the thumb of their right hand and on the
big toe of their right foot…
• Ryrie Study Bible notes on page 104, Exodus 29, reads
"These verses describe the installation of the priests,
which include washing (v. 4), anointing (V. 7), clothing
(vv. 8–9), and offering sacrifices (vv. 10–28). The
priest’s ears (symbolizing obedience to God, cf. 21:6),
thumbs and toes (symbolizing work for God) were
specially dedicated to God (29:20). The ceremonies
lasted seven days (v. 35)."
26. Leviticus 8:35, Keep The Charge So
That You Will Not Die
• Leviticus 8:35 "At the doorway of the tent of meeting, moreover,
you shall remain day and night for seven days and keep the charge
of the LORD, so that you will not die, for so I have been
commanded.“
• Romans 6:23 For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God
is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.
• Genesis 2:17 but from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil
you shall not eat, for in the day that you eat from it you will surely
die.“
• Leviticus 10:1 Now Nadab and Abihu, the sons of Aaron, took their
respective firepans, and after putting fire in them, placed incense
on it and offered strange fire before the LORD, which He had not
commanded them. 2 And fire came out from the presence of the
LORD and consumed them, and they died before the LORD.
27. Leviticus 8:35, Keep The Charge So
That You Will Not Die
• Leviticus 8:35 "At the doorway of the tent of meeting, moreover,
you shall remain day and night for seven days and keep the charge
of the LORD, so that you will not die, for so I have been
commanded.“
• Romans 6:23 For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God

respective firepans, and after putting fire in them, placed incense
on it and offered strange fire before the LORD, which He had not
commanded them. 2 And fire came out from the presence of the
LORD and consumed them, and they died before the LORD.
28. The Good News
• Those who trust in Jesus will not die…
• John 6:50 "This is the bread which comes
down from heaven, that one may eat of it and
not die. 51 "I am the living bread which came
down from heaven. If anyone eats of this
bread, he will live forever; and the bread that I
shall give is My flesh, which I shall give for the
life of the world.“
29. The Pure Spotless Lamb
K-House eNews
• “Peter describes how we are saved by “the precious blood of Christ,
as of a lamb without blemish and without spot.” Just as John the
Baptist understood, Jesus was the fulfillment of the Levitical system
of blood sacrifice (e.g. Lev 8–9). Jesus was the true spotless lamb
whose blood could take away sins. The sacrifice of bulls and goats
could never take away sin, as the writer of Hebrews noted in verses
10:4–5, [quoting Psalm 40:6] “For it is not possible that the blood of
bulls and of goats should take away sins. Wherefore when he
cometh into the world, he saith, Sacrifice and offering thou
wouldest not, but a body hast thou prepared me.” …
• Throughout the Law and the Prophets, God revealed His eternal
plan of redemption to mankind. In advance, He described the
sacrifice and resurrection of the Messiah. It was a plan He had
purposed before He had even formed humanity. He then
accomplished it, and through Jesus Christ we have the victory now
and forever.
• Praise the King!”
31. Let’s Read Leviticus 9:1-24
• Lev 8:1 Aaron and His Sons Ordained
• Lev 9:1 The Priests Ministry Begin
• Lev 10:1 Nadab and Abihu’s strange fire
32. Leviticus 9:1, On The Eighth Day
• Leviticus 9:1 Now it came about on the eighth
day that Moses called Aaron and his sons and
the elders of Israel;
• After the prescribed 7 days of offerings you’d
think they were done.
• No, that was for the ordination…
• Leviticus 9:2 …"Take for yourself …and offer
them before the LORD.
33. Leviticus 9:15, On The Eighth Day
• Leviticus 9:2 …"Take for yourself …and offer them
before the LORD.
• Then,
• Leviticus 9:15 Then he presented the people's offering,
and took the goat of the sin offering which was for the
people, and slaughtered it and offered it for sin, like
the first.
• After all they’ve been through on Mt. Sinai they must
have zealously religious, believing and listening for
God, yet their sins were not paid for yet. There had to
be shedding of blood for sin specifically before coming
close to the presence of God.
34. Leviticus 9:15-22, Sin Offering
• Leviticus 9:15-22, sin offering… the burnt
offering, …the grain offering, …the sacrifice of
peace offerings …as a wave offering before the
LORD, just as Moses had commanded.
• 22 Then Aaron lifted up his hands toward the
people and blessed them, and he stepped down
after making the sin offering and the burnt
offering and the peace offerings.
• Ryrie Study Bible notes on page 130, says, “These
symbolize (in order) atonement, dedication,
sustenance, and communication.”
35. Leviticus 9:23, The Glory Of The LORD
Appeared To All The People
• Leviticus 9:23 Moses and Aaron went into the
tent of meeting. When they came out and
blessed the people, the glory of the LORD
appeared to all the people.
• Shekinah?
• Pillar of cloud and/or fire?
36. Leviticus 9:24, The LORD, He Is God
• Leviticus 9:24 Then fire came out from before the LORD
and consumed the burnt offering and the portions of fat on
the altar; and when all the people saw it, they shouted and
fell on their faces.
• When it says “they shouted” do you suppose “Hallelujah!,”
or the fear of the Lord? Talk about “shock and awe.”
• 1 Kings 18:23… 25 So Elijah said to the prophets of Baal…
• 38 Then the fire of the LORD fell and consumed the burnt
offering and the wood and the stones and the dust, and
licked up the water that was in the trench. 39 When all the
people saw it, they fell on their faces; and they said, "The
LORD, He is God; the LORD, He is God."
• 40 Then Elijah said to them, "Seize the prophets of Baal…
37. Lev 9:23, The Glory Of The LORD
• Leviticus 9:23 …the glory
of the LORD appeared to
all the people.
• Remember that the glory
of the LORD made Moses’
face radiate?
• This has cause many to
depicted Moses with
horns.
39. Why was Moses depicted with horns?
Dr. Eli Lizorkin-Eyzenberg
• When we look at pictorial representations by many medieval
artists we cannot help to notice that in their rendition Moses
curiously appears with horns! How did great Christian artists
such as Michelangelo, among hundreds of others, conceive of
the idea that Moses had horns? To put it simply - something
got lost in translation. Michelangelo's Moses
• We read in Ex.34:29: And when Moses came down from the
mount Sinai, he held the two tables of the testimony, and he
knew not that his face was horned from the conversation of
the Lord (English translation of Latin Vulgate).
• What eventually became the Latin Vulgate Bible mistakenly
translated the word not with the idea of
“shining/radiance”, but with an idea of “grown horns” (since in
Hebrew without vowels it can be translate both ways).
40. This Word Caused All The Confusion

Acts 2:24 Zechariah 12:10 Luke 24:46, Christ's Death and
Resurrection In the Old Testament
• Christ's Death and Resurrection In the Old Testament
• from the March 26, 2013 eNews issue
http://www.khouse.org (visit our website for a FREE subscription) K-House eNews for March 26, 2013
• “And I will pour on the house of David and on the inhabitants of Jerusalem the Spirit of grace and supplication; then they will look on Me whom they pierced…” — Zechariah 12:10
• “…Thus it is written, and thus it behoved Christ to suffer, and to rise from the dead the third day:” — Luke 24:46
• After his resurrection, Jesus met two men on the road to Emmaus, and he expected them to already understand through the Scriptures that Christ was meant to suffer and die. “And
beginning at Moses and all the prophets, he expounded unto them in all the scriptures the things concerning himself,” (Luke 24:26–27).
• We would all have loved to be there on the road to Emmaus that day, walking with the resurrected Jesus himself as he detailed the different prophecies that concerned his death and
resurrection. Still, the apostles and other New Testament writers do a good job of filling us in. The Old Testament is filled with prophecies and types of Jesus’ suffering and death and
resurrection as payment for the sins of the world, and the New Testament points those out.
• Psalm 16:8–11
• Simon Peter starts out on the day of Pentecost explaining that Jesus the Messiah had risen from the dead, “Whom God hath raised up, having loosed the pains of death: because it was
not possible that he should be holden of it,” (Acts 2:24). Peter then pulled from the Psalms to prove the truth of his testimony.
• “For David speaketh concerning him, I foresaw the Lord always before my face, for he is on my right hand, that I should not be moved: Therefore did my heart rejoice, and my tongue was
glad; moreover also my flesh shall rest in hope: Because thou wilt not leave my soul in hell, neither wilt thou suffer thine Holy One to see corruption. Thou hast made known to me the
ways of life; thou shalt make me full of joy with thy countenance.
• “Men and brethren, let me freely speak unto you of the patriarch David, that he is both dead and buried, and his sepulchre is with us unto this day. Therefore being a prophet, and
knowing that God had sworn with an oath to him, that of the fruit of his loins, according to the flesh, he would raise up Christ to sit on his throne; He seeing this before spake of the
resurrection of Christ, that his soul was not left in hell, neither his flesh did see corruption. This Jesus hath God raised up, whereof we all are witnesses.” — Acts 2:24–32
• Psalm 22
• The sacrifice and resurrection of the Messiah are throughout the Old Testament. Psalm 22, written by King David a millennium before Christ, gives us the very perspective of the Lord
hanging on the cross. It describes how the people mocked Christ (Psalm 22:7–8; Mat 27:41–43), how they cast lots to divide up his clothes (Psalm 22:18; Mat 27:35), how his bones were
out of joint (Psalm 22:14), how the wicked had surrounded him and pierced his hands and feet (Psalm 22:16) – the scars of which Thomas later got to touch and feel (John 20:27). Psalm
22 ends by saying God’s righteousness would be declared to “a people that shall be born” (Psalm 22:31).
• The Sign of Jonah
• The Bible is also full of types and foreshadowings. Jesus Christ is throughout the Old Testament in a variety of details. For instance, before his death and resurrection, Jesus offered simply
the “sign of Jonah” as a foreshadowing of how long he would be dead.
• “For as Jonas was three days and three nights in the whale’s belly; so shall the Son of man be three days and three nights in the heart of the earth.” — Matthew 12:40
• Isaiah 53
• Isaiah 52:13–53:12offers one of the most profound prophecies in the entire Old Testament, written over 700 years before Christ’s death and resurrection.
• “He is despised and rejected of men; a man of sorrows, and acquainted with grief: and we hid as it were our faces from him; he was despised, and we esteemed him not. Surely he hath
borne our griefs, and carried our sorrows: yet we did esteem him stricken, smitten of God, and afflicted. But he was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities: the
chastisement of our peace was upon him; and with his stripes we are healed. All we like sheep have gone astray; we have turned every one to his own way; and the LORD hath laid on
him the iniquity of us all.” — Isaiah 53:3–6
• Some have argued that this passage refers to Israel, but in the context that explanation makes little sense. Isaiah clearly says in verse 53:8,“for the transgression of my people was he
stricken.” That is, “he” stands in contrast to Israel, Isaiah’s people.
• In the next verse, Isaiah says: “And he made his grave with the wicked, and with the rich in his death; because he had done no violence, neither was any deceit in his mouth.”
• It cannot be said of Israel that there was no deceit in her mouth.
• On the other hand, Jesus was crucified between two thieves (Mark 15:27), and yet was buried in the grave of Joseph of Arimathaea, a wealthy man with enough standing to go ask Pilate
for Jesus’ body (Mark15:43–46).
• In Isaiah 53:10, we get a hint at a resurrection, because after his soul is made “an offering for sin” he will then “prolong his days.”
• In the end, Isaiah says in verse 12 that God would reward this righteous servant (numbered with the transgressors, but not one himself), “he shall divide the spoil with the strong; because
he hath poured out his soul unto death: and he was numbered with the transgressors; and he bare the sin of many, and made intercession for the transgressors.”
• Our Redeemer Lives
• In the oldest book of the Bible, written even before Moses wrote the Pentateuch, Job prophesied from the ash heap where he suffered. He declared in verses 19:25–26:
