2. Let's start with a quick summary of
what we've been up to, followed by
some discussion on where we're
going, suggestions for improvement,
and how you can help.
3. BSDA Exam
Psychometrically valid, covers 7 knowledge
domains, paper based, scored for 100 multiple
choice questions, intended audience is junior
sysadmin with at least 6 months experience
Exam launched in Feb/08, 1938 IDs issued, 250
registered for an exam event, 80 events
organized, 134 certified (some not scored yet,
some registered for upcoming event)
4. BSDP Exam
Psychometrically valid, covers 11 knowledge
domains, paper and lab based, intended audience
is senior sysadmin with at least 3 years
experience
SME sessions required to write and review exam
questions, Angoff session will set passing score,
custom lab design almost complete, should
launch some time in 2011
5. ANSI/ISO/IEC 17024 Accreditation
Globally recognized accreditation standard
Validates psychometrics and business processes
Expensive: ~$20,000 to prepare/pay for initial
audit, ~4,000 annual auditing fees
Tedious: requires creation and documentation of
processes
Is value gained worth cost and time?
6. Expanding Delivery Method
Until recently, too expensive to consider (though
we have continued to research options)
Would prefer creation of open licensed delivery
system (though that has yet to happen)
Considering proposal from SMT (work with
accredited orgs, price point is reasonable)
Would you pay twice as much for the exam if you
could book it at any time in a city near you?
