How To Stop Panic Attacks- Stop Freaking Out!
A panic attack is an unexpected psychological condition that is characterized by severe anxiety,
nervousness and fear and can last for minutes or even hours. Factors that have been known to
trigger this are post traumatic stress; obsessive compulsive disorder; exposure to personal fears
as well as alcohol and drug withdrawal symptoms.

Medical analysis over the years has concluded that symptoms common to a panic attack are
heart pounding; fever; trembling; nausea; dizziness; chest pains and shortness of breath. In
short, going through such an intense emotional rollercoaster is akin to having a heart attack, the
only difference is that it rarely kills. But here is the catch, panic attacks are curable and I’m
going to show you how to stop panic attacks from ruining your life.

For a moment just consider how good it feels to breathe in fresh air if you’ve spent hours in a
stuffy and hot room. This might appear fictitious but most panic attacks occur indoors. When this
occurs go outside breathe in the fresh air deeply and slowly, the key to stopping such attacks is
to calm down. You will see this do wonders for you because the anxiety of panic attacks keeps
you on the edge but breathing does the opposite, this way you will stop them by exposing
yourself to more calming conditions.

What usually happens when we panic is that we take short and quick breaths, the two reasons
why panics thrive. Hate it or love it but it is this shortness of breath that limits the supply of
oxygen to the brain and causes the dizziness and fainting frequent to panic attacks. When your
body gets used to this response that response becomes the natural response. Hence everytime
you feel like a panic attack is close at hand you can easily stop it by breathing deep and slow.

Another thing you could try doing is going deep within yourself to try and discover what causes
your panic attacks. In most cases, if not all, there is always something that triggers your attacks.
Therefore by going to the root of the matter is by far the best way to cure them. Let’s just say
you were in a violent car accident in which your entire family died. The post traumatic stress of
such a tragic loss can set off a panic attack if you’re once again in a car and the same set of
conditions similar to the ones in the disastrous crash prevail.

You will almost immediately fall into a panic that will spiral into something scary. If you avoid
travelling in cars by all ways possible, even avoid the route itself, you are just trapping yourself
in a cycle of fear. If your attacks are stemming from a possible state of chaos and disorder
because you’re obsessed with order (obsessive compulsive disorder) then make sure that you
plan well ahead of schedule everytime.

What’s more, stimulating substances like caffeine can prevent you from stopping panic attacks.
Stimulants like coffee will keep you watchful and attentive; your body will be active and ready for
activity. Believe it or not but a panic attack can be started by stimulants. During a panic attack
your body naturally responds to the sudden urgency and anxiety and makes you alert. Now add
that alertness to the cup of coffee and your attacks could never enjoy the prospect of being
stopped successfully, they might actually worsen.

                                                                                                1/2
Regular exercise is something else that will do the trick. Exercising helps regulate, amongst
other things, the level of adrenalin in your body. When you have an adrenalin rush, a sudden
rush of blood and energy, your heart beats faster. Now, if you don’t exercise and then have a
panic attack your body naturally releases adrenalin into your system. The overall result is
excessive adrenalin in the system, and this doesn’t help stop panic attacks. Prevention is better
than cure. Exercise and control the adrenalin levels in your body so that panic attacks don’t
                                   become that dangerous.

When it comes to controlling ones emotions it is crucial to stay positive. Fact is thinking of
negative things like death; tragedies; bad moments in your life and other stressful things will
only make you feel terribly under pressure. Instead, look back at the good times you’ve had in
your life and you’ll notice how great you’ll begin to feel. And it is this feeling good that’s
important to stopping panic attacks. When you sense an attack coming look for something that
will calm you down, memorable pictures or home videos can work wonders.

But here’s the most important part. Panic attacks are avoidable, curable and can be stopped
completely; it all boils down to understanding yourself and your environment. At the end of the
day it ‘s all about balancing your life and watching your emotions, thoughts and feelings.
