2. Douglas Viviani, and I am President of
the Board of Directors at Youth
Directions and Alternatives, a private,
non-profit community and youth agency
serving youth and their families in the
school district of Elwood, Harborfields,
and Northport/East Northport. In my
professional life, I’m an attorney with 30
years’ experience, and a member of the
New York State Bar Association. The
Law Office of Douglas Viviani focuses on
traffic violations, and serves the New
York area. Obviously, I like to stay busy!
3. I genuinely enjoy working with and helping youth. I especially enjoy
creating educational and youth development programs and
recreational activities. Too many children leave school and are left
alone in the afternoon until their parents come home. Studies have
shown this is the time when negative influences and unhealthy habits
take root. It’s imperative to instill positive lessons during the school
age years. Negative habits tend to follow kids from teenage years to
adulthood, but at the same time, positive ones do, too. Our goal is to
nurture those positive activities, sending youth down a positive path
and shaping them into happy, healthy adults.
4. At YDA, we developed programs that give
children a place to go, where they’re
surrounded by people and adults helping
them succeed. We created YDA Drop-Ins,
which is a recreational program starting
after school that gives youths a safe place
to meet their friends, watch movies, play
games, and just hang with their friends in a
vibrant, social environment.
