26. VRE: conclusies
“de VRE” bestaat niet…
… ‘best tool for the job’ aanpak.
Communicatie en samenwerking niet specifiek
voor onderzoek, onderzoeksdata wel…
… focus op Research Data Management.

VRE = RDM + collaboration and communication tools
It’s complicated. But monolithic is out.
Inspiration for our approach is the DaMaRO project from Oxford (which had a session this CNI fall 12 Monday 1600-1700).As you see, it gets already more complex.
And if we add the overlapping projects, it becomes very complex.
We want this: integrated portal.
…and this is what happens in practice. 8 separate, unconnected systems each work better than a monolithic system.

Treloar’s 3 silo model. Focus on 3rd silo has not been effective, we must interneve to offer services earlier in the academic workflow.
It’s ambitious. It’s what’s needed. And there is momentum!Explain the money issues. The lack of central infrastructure and ad-hoc policies.Decision at end of April!
