3. America is one of the wealthiest nations on Earth, yet rates 48 th in life expectancy. We not only have a nation that is #1 in infant mortality, but is #1 in obesity as well. Let’s look at the statistics regarding our health…
4. Heart Disease Coronary heart disease (CHD) is the leading cause of death in the United States for men and women According to the American Heart Association, the risk of having CHD after age 40 is 49% for men and 32% for women Emerging evidence has linked environmental toxins to coronary heart disease Source: http://www.nlm.nih.gov/medlineplus/ency/article/007115.htm
5. Every 2 minutes a woman in the United States is diagnosed with breast cancer. Studies have pointed to exposure to estrogen-like chemicals that are found in pesticides and other industrial products as a possible reason for the increased risk of contracting breast cancer. Source: http://www.nlm.nih.gov/medlineplus/ency/article/000913.htm, www.Breastcancer.org. Breast Cancer
6. Colon cancer is the second leading cause of cancer deaths in the U.S., killing even more people each year than breast cancer. Environmental factors including high fat/preservative-laden diet contribute to the high incidence of this disease Colon Cancer Source: Gut Reactions by Raphael Kellman and Carol Colman 2002
7. Over 17 million Americans are diagnosed with mood disorders such as depression each year. Prozac has been associated with over 1,734 suicide deaths and over 28,000 adverse reactions since its use was cleared by the FDA in 1988 . “ Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder” is one of the most common so called “disorders” that label children, affecting 10%. 8. Type 2 Diabetes is far more common than Type 1 Diabetes and is one of the largest causes of death and disability in the US. It is characterized by the bodies inability to maintain a normal blood glucose level Emerging evidence has also linked environmental toxins to diabetes Source: http://www.nlm.nih.gov/medlineplus/ency/article/001214.htm Type 2 Diabetes
9. Approximately 30% to 40% of all infertility is due to a “male” factor, such as hormone deficiency, environmental pollutants, scarring from sexually transmitted disease, or decreased sperm count. Some factors affecting sperm count are heavy marijuana use or use of prescription drugs. Source: http://www.nlm.nih.gov/medlineplus/ency/article/001191.htm Infertility
10. Osteoporosis is the most common type of bone disease. There are currently an estimated 10 million Americans suffering from osteoporosis, as well as another 18 million who have low bone mass, or osteopenia. Researchers estimate that about 20% of American women over the age of 50 have osteoporosis. In addition, another 30% have osteopenia that, if not treated, may eventually deteriorate into osteoporosis. Source: http://www.nlm.nih.gov/medlineplus/ency/article/000360.htm Osteoporosis
11. Source: http://www.nlm.nih.gov/medlineplus/ency/article/003101.htm Obesity More than half of the U.S. population is overweight, but being obese is different from being overweight. An adult male is considered obese when his weight is 20% or more over the maximum desirable for his height; a woman is considered obese at 25% or more. Anyone more than 100 pounds overweight is considered morbidly obese.
12. According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, when people are overweight or obese they are more likely to develop health problems such as: High cholesterol • Type 2 Diabetes • Hypertension • Heart disease • Stroke • • Gallbladder disease • Breathing problems • Osteoarthritis • Sleep apnea • Cancer Source: www.cdc.gov/nccdphp/dnpa/obesity/faq.htm#audult
13. SYMPTOM SURVEY Before we discuss solutions, let’s look at what is happening with your health and your body.
14. Did you have more than one symptom? If you did, let me tell you what it means. If you have more than one symptom, or the one symptom you have occurs more than once per week, you have a situation you should be concerned about. It’s never normal to have a symptom. A symptom is your body’s way of communicating to you that something is not right and needs to be checked.
15. Would you check your car if the engine light went on? Symptoms are a warning that something is wrong. There is no such thing as a normal symptom.  You would check your car to make sure it did not get worse. Your body deserves the same attention.
16. Today you have two choices regarding your health. You can do the same things you’re currently doing, and get the same results, or you can try something new and do something different and get a different result. The choice is yours.
17. ASTHMA: Between 1980 and 1995, the percentage of children with asthma doubled, rising from 3.6% in 1980 to 7.5% in 1995. DIABETES: From 1945-1969, only 1 in 7,100 six to 18-year-olds were diabetic. Today, 1 in 400-500 children and adolescents are diabetic and 206,000 Americans under the age of 20 have Type 1 Diabetes. 18. AUTISM: In 1970, 1 in 10,000 children showed signs of autism. According to the American Academy of Pediatrics, today 6 in 1000 children are diagnosed with autism. In 1991, 5,000 autistic children were in public schools. A report in the Digest for Education Statistics showed that number reached 94,000 by 2001. 20. Let’s now look at why impurities enter our bodies and from where.
21. According to the Environmental Protection Agency people exposed to toxic air pollutants at sufficient concentrations and durations may have an increased chance of getting cancer, damage to the immune system, as well as neurological, reproductive (e.g., reduced fertility), developmental, respiratory and other health problems. People are exposed to toxic air pollutants not only through the air they breathe but by the effect of air pollutants on our soils and water. Children touching soil that is polluted and then ingesting these pollutants is not that uncommon. 35. Potentially Hazardous Skin Care Ingredients Chronic exposure linked to anemia, lowered blood cell count, liver or kidney damage…May affect a developing fetus Made from petroleum and coal tar… found in most synthetic fragrances Toluene May inhibit skin cell growth. Linked to kidney and liver problems . Common cosmetic moisturizer and carrier for fragrance oils Propylene glycol Linked to mammary tumors Found in many facial creams Acrylamide SLS combined with other chemicals may become a "nitrosamine" – a potent carcinogen Found in over 90% of personal care products! They break down your skin’s moisture barrier, allowing other chemicals easy access Sodium laurel or lauryl sulfate (SLS), Hormone-disrupting qualities mimic estrogen and could disrupt your body’s endocrine system Heavily used preservatives in the cosmetic industry; used in an estimated 13,200 cosmetic and skin care products . Parabens Dangers Use Ingredient
