Dr. Surendra Chaudhary
Formerly,Regional Ayurvedic & Unani Officer –Uttar Pradesh
dr.surendra.chaudhary@gmail.com
 It is mandatory for every Ayurveda graduate to be registered
with any state board to practice after obtaining B.A.M.S.
degree and completing compulsory internship.
 Without registration you are not allowed to do practice
 Most of the time our graduates opt for the registration from
the state which they graduated or their native state
mentioning home address as the practicing address. (This is a
generalised pattern)
 Because of so many reasons, one settled at different address
or even at different part of the country.
 Law says- “it is mandatory to be registered with
the state board of your practicing place”.
 If a person practices in two or more different sates,
has to be registered with all the respective states?
 But it creates a lot of problem and confusion among
the practicing Vaidyas so CCIM amended this law
and solution comes in the form of-Central
registration
• Central Register of Indian Medicine, Regulations, 1979
• In exercise of the powers conferred by clause (m) to clause
(o) of Section 36 of the Indian Medicine Central Council
Act, 1970 (48 of 1970), the Central Council of Indian
Medicine, with the previous sanction of the Central
Government, hereby makes the required regulations.
 It gives me right to practice anywhere in India
irrespective of my original registration board.
 No it is not mandatory. But it is advisable to
obtain this certificate.
 Now your name will be reflected in central
register by default.
It is mandatory for the state registration boards to
send all the details of the registered practitioners
to the central council for the central registration
after which all the names will be published in
central gazettes periodically.
http://www.ccimindia.org/
 It is simple if anyone want direct registration can
do so –
 Download the form –A and read the instructions
-http://ccimindia.org/cc_actregulations_1979_forms.html
 Deposit the required fee and mention the reason
for direct central registration. Send it to the
council with all the required documents.
 “All entries have been made on the basis of State
Register supplied by State Boards / Councils and entries
of Central Register of Indian Medicine are subject to
availability / validity of registration granted by State
Boards / Councils.
No any claim will be accepted in any Court of Law
where entry of medical practitioners not existing in State
Board/Council.”
 With the best of my knowledge it is not possible.
This registration is valid until your state registration
exists.
It is mandatory to intimate the registration
authority about any change in your address, for
central registration one can do by filling a simple
form and submit.
 After depositing the required fee and requisition
form
(http://ccimindia.org/applications.html )
 one will get a certificate (on next slide)

http://www.ccimindia.org/cc_actregulations_1979_forms.html
It depend upon state to state about eligibility
having a clause to make it mandatory to be
registered with that state only. May be
because of some local laws.
In such condition central registration doesn't
guarantee for eligibility.
 If the original board require renewal and proof of address
is the same- no need of cancelling the registration until
unless new board made it mandatory for registering with its
body.
 Uttrakhand board is forcing its practitioners for
surrendering the old certificate and getting new
registration.
 It is against the CCIM central registration act.
