5. The Mission Statement Of The Church Jesus said , “Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.” Matthew 28:19-20 This Great Commission of Christ is The Mission Statement for Every Local Church! We must ask ourselves, “If the Mission of the Church is to be fulfilled, what do we do?”…..
6. CHANGE FOR THE SAKE OF CHANGE IS WRONG ! !!! CHANGE !!! CHANGE FOR THE SAKE OF IMPROVEMENT IS RIGHT ! If we keep doin’ what we’re doin’ we’ll keep gettin’ what we’re gettin’!

Jesus said, “Go..” How many believe this is the Mission statement of the Church? How many believe that it is the Mission statement of your church? You see, Jesus was sent on a Mission; God is still on that Mission, and He has called us to be on that Mission.
Now let’s look at statistics that define the Maintenance Culture Church 1. You know what church transfer is, don’t you? Yeah, church hoppers, cruisamanics; steeple chasers; flakes. 98% of all growth in the American Church is church transfer. Every Sunday in every church we minister in, we discover that is true. 2. Every pastor is busy, and every core worker is over worked. However, in all of our business, we are fulfilling the Mission that Jesus gave us by only 2%. 3. What I mean by barren people is-- they are good Christians, go to church, read their bible, pray. Yet, they have not personally been involved in someone’s salvation in years, if ever. 4. We are not effective in keeping people in our churches. 5. 80% of American churches are non-growing. Economists would call the church a “Non-Growth Industry”. You don’t invest in a non-growth industry. The church is like the steel companies 20 years ago. We are on the back side of the power curve and people are laughing. As pastors we are the CEOs of a non-growth industry. what are we going to do about it? If we don’t do something we are going to become like the steel industry. Does your church have the Maintenance Culture symptoms? The Acts church was a mission driven church: “The word of the Lord spread and the number of disciples multiplied greatly.” The Acts Church multiplied disciples, they did not maintain members. Does your church have the Maintenance Culture statistics?
