SIMONE’S LIFE
•  Born – 12.9.87 5lb 6oz
•  400 gram placenta, very dried out.
ACUTE leukaemia – born to die

First visit 27.9.87
•  Scrawny, sleepy scrap of humanity
•  Liver and Spleen very enlarged,
Haemorrhaged from bowel
•  Green poo very, very coloured urine

SIMONE’S PROGNOSIS
“There is no hope”.
“She will die within the next couple of weeks
– do you want to leave her here to die, or
take her home to die”?

Even if one chance in a million
that chemotherapy may help,
he would not do it as would
radically injure her developing
brain.


IS SHE TO LIVE?
What if that is not a given, & all we
have to do is follow the steps as they
appear?

What if this is all we EVER have to do?
What if all any of us need to do is to
follow, rather than lead . . . AND
Live more in our hearts and less in our
heads. . .

QUESTIONS
What are we trying to prove by
performing any intervention?

That we are better than . . .
That we can conquer . . .
Is the will of ???? to be done,
or our’s, or their personality’s . . .
‘it hurts’ etc

Asking the Obvious

Why has this being arrived with me,

•  Listen to a work colleague who said
that his wife may be able to
help . . .

•  Decided to give her a go,
as there was not one thing to lose –
hope had departed, so why not try the
ridiculous?

WHAT DID I DO?
Assume that I had no idea why/what
to do.

That she was with me, and dad had
agreed for some reason, and to just
follow

whatever happened next - it would
become obvious

WHAT WAS I THINKING?

• Palliative care.
• Treat what was
in front of me.


•  What do we do instead?
•  Hide behind a mask/façade?
•  Look blank, and say nothing to be done?
•  Try to ‘fix’ it?
•  Give it our best shot?

•  Let go and be a conduit for whatever?

•  ACCEPT NO LIMITATIONS

bleeding out – at the same hospital visit.

•  Her parents’ acceptance of her imminent
departure lead to her changing her script.

•  Then we married east and west, until
remission – then west won

& hassling Dad to accept what was going on in
the minute, & not accepting what anyone
else (even me) had to say.

8 weeks after commencing twice daily
90 minute sessions with Heather, many
hands on, and more Reiki hands off
(absent) encounters with Dianne.
PLUS
Prednisone,
& numerous whole blood transfusions – all
against the medical advice, as they
thought it slowing the inevitable . . .

MUM’S ULTIMATUM

Either you agree to starting
chemotherapy immediately, or you
leave & the medical lawyers will
take over Simone’s guardianship.
WHY?
Prednisone has never cured a case
of leukaemia. (She will die if we do
not try to save her . . . )
