Along with the California Learning Resource Network (CLRN), TechSETS, and EdTechProfile, TICAL is one California’s Statewide Educational Technology Services. TICAL is a unique professional development opportunity created by some of California’s most tech-savvy K-12 administrators for the benefit of their administrator colleagues across the state. It is provided by Santa Cruz County Office of Education under contract to the California Department of Education. TICAL’s logo gives a hint of what TICAL is all about! It’s a treasure chest of resources to help administrators with technology questions—from finding money for technology to integrating technology in standards-based curriculum. And like a cruise ship, TICAL provides a safe, guided journey to select ports of call on the Internet.
The heart of TICAL is a searchable database of carefully selected technology resources. These resources include publications, models, people, hardware, software, and vendors. TICAL’s true value lies in the fact each of these resources has been recommended by a knowledgeable colleague and comes with an abstract to help you determine if the resource would be of use to you.
