Proverbs 16:14 The wrath of a king is as messengers of
death: but a wise man will pacify it. 15 In the light
of the king's countenance is life; and his favor is as
a cloud of the latter rain.
These two verses show the power of kings, which
is everywhere great, but was especially so in those
eastern countries, where they were absolute and
arbitrary. Whom they would they slew and whom
they would they kept alive. Their will was a law.
Matthew Henry
5. 5
Thank God we serve
The Righteous King.
Jesus is both our
Savior and our Lord.
Love Him and
serve Him
6. 6
16 How much better is it to get wisdom than gold!
and to get understanding rather to be chosen than
silver!
Heavenly Wisdom is better than worldly wealth.
Yet, it is so easy for us to spend most of our time
seeking money and possessions,
But so little time to searching the Scriptures to
know the Wisdom of God.
7. 7
Matthew 4 1 Then was Jesus led up of the Spirit
into the wilderness to be tempted of the devil. 2And
when He had fasted forty days and forty nights, He
was afterward an hungered. 3 And when the
tempter came to Him, he said, If thou be the Son of
God, command that these stones be made bread.
4 But He answered and said, It is written, Man shall
not live by bread alone, but by Every Word that
proceedeth out of the mouth of God.
8. 8
Will you believe and obey
every Word of God?
Will you live your life
His Way?
Every day, all the way.
9. 9
17 The highway of the upright is to depart from evil:
he that keepeth his way preserveth his soul.
It is the way of the upright to avoid sin, and every
thing that looks like it and leads towards it; and this
is a highway marked out by authority, tracked by
many that have gone before us, and in which we
meet with many that keep company with us; it is
easy to find and safe to be traveled in, like a
highway. Matthew Henry
11. 11
To depart from evil is understanding. It is the care
of the upright to preserve their own souls, that they
be not polluted with sin, … And it is therefore their
care to keep their way, and not turn aside out of
it, on either hand, but to press towards perfection.
Those that adhere to their duty secure their felicity
(joy). Keep thy way and God will keep thee.
Matthew Henry
