Proverbs 18:23 The poor useth intreaties; but the rich
answereth roughly.
Unfortunately a poor person’s plea for mercy from
a rich person is often met with harsh words. This
does not excuse such a response; it simply states a
fact. Arrogant treatment of less fortunate people is
wrong.
Indirectly this verse warns against characteristics
that might lead to poverty such as laziness,
stinginess, unteachableness , and talkativeness.

4. 4
In other words, since the poor are often
treated badly by some people,
Strive not to be in that poor circumstance.
5. 5
18:24 A man that hath
friends must shew himself
friendly: and there is a
friend that sticketh closer
than a brother.
A hateful, grouchy person will
not usually make friends.
Be friendly!
6. 6
A terribly shy person may not
have many friends.
Reach out to people; be friendly.
Most people will respond.
7. 7
And let’s be that friend who
sticks closer than a brother.
The best way to see a church grow is to reach
out to people who don’t have a church home.
Then become a real friend in good times and bad.
8. 8
Proverbs 19 1 Better is the poor that walketh in his
integrity, than he that is perverse (false) in his lips,
and is a fool.
1 Peter 3 10 For he that
will love life, and see
good days, let him refrain
his tongue from evil, and
his lips that they speak no
guile:
Psalm 14 1 The fool
hath said in his heart,
There is no God. ….
9. 9
God teaches us that it is better to be poor (destitute)
than to be a liar or to deny God in the way we live.
Poor here = destitute = without necessities
Without food and clothing
Does that mean that God will allow His
children to go hungry and naked?
Not if we live life His Way!
Not if we are His obedient children.
10. 10
Matthew 6 31 Therefore take no thought (don’t worry),
saying, What shall we eat? or, What shall we drink?
or, Wherewithal shall we be clothed? 32 (For after
all these things do the Gentiles seek:) for your
Heavenly Father knoweth that ye have need of all
these things. 33 But seek ye first the Kingdom of
God, and His Righteousness; and all these things
shall be added unto you.
Sinners seek after food, drink, clothing and other
material possessions and earthly pleasures.
The children of God Almighty don’t need to.
11. 11
God will add to our lives whatever we need,
as we seek God and His Righteousness.
Worship and pray
Be faithful
13. 13
Matthew 6 34 Take therefore no thought for the
morrow: for the morrow shall take thought for the
things of itself. Sufficient unto the day is the evil
thereof.
Philippians 4 4 Rejoice in the Lord always: and
again I say, Rejoice. 5 Let your moderation
(gentleness; self-restraint) be known unto all men.
The Lord is at hand.
14. 14
6 Be careful (anxious) for nothing; but in every
thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving
let your requests be made known unto God. 7 And
the peace of God, which passeth all understanding,
shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ
Jesus.
15. 15
8 Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true,
whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are
just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things
are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if
there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think
on these things. 9 Those things, which ye have both
learned, and received, and heard, and seen in me, do:
and the God of peace shall be with you.
These are a few of the principles of
living life God’s Way. He will bless
His obedient children.
