The Environmental Protection Agency of Montenegro was established in November 2008 by decree to implement EU environmental standards and goals. It aims to protect and enhance Montenegro's natural environment for present and future generations through transparent enforcement of environmental laws. The Agency monitors the environment, issues permits, inspects compliance, raises public awareness, and cooperates internationally on issues like climate change. It has over 150 employees organized across sectors for monitoring, permitting, inspection, communications, and legal and financial affairs.
3. Establishment of the Agency The Government of Montenegro established the Environmental Protection Agency in November 2008. The Agency is a body of the Ministry of the Environment and Spatial Planning Decree on the establishment of the Agency was published in the “Official Gazette” (Off. Gazette, no. 68/08 ). By establishing the Environmental Protection Agency, conditions have been met for the implementation of EU environmental standards and goals
