Recruiting in China – A Quick View
eQuest’s Big Data for HR team recently performed a study of
China’s top career sites
to determine certain trends in how candidates respond to job
listings as well other interesting facts.
Here are some of the results of the study:
Study #1:
Most Utilized Job Boards
51Job, Zhaopin, VeryEast, ChinaHR, and 61HR_CN
For corporations inside and outside China posting open
positions in APAC – these five job boards
led the pack for sheer volume of job postings (see Chart #1).
Study #2
Of the top 5 job boards (51Job, Zhaopin, VeryEast, ChinaHR,
and 61HR_CN) we reviewed their effectiveness by way of
candidates responding and applying to open requisitions
during the same time period (see Chart #2).
Study #3:
The Best and Worst Response Times by Job Class
We also looked at the types of job classifications that
candidates responded to almost immediately from the time
they were published – to job postings that took several weeks
to get a first candidate to respond.
This particular study took into account ALL career sites in and around China.
Candidates responded to the following job classifications within 5 minutes of posting:
Management Analysis
Sales
Healthcare Support

Recruitment Advertising
In China, the micro-blogging site Weibo was the most effective for
companies that wanted to
capture the attention of candidates during commute hours, lunch
breaks and evenings.
Companies also had hiring success utilizing professional
internet forums and specialty networks.
Where are Sales candidates hanging out? Social media, of
course. Recruiters reported it is one of
the most effective places to engage sales professionals.
This release is the second in a series of reports eQuest will be publishing as part of its Big Data for HR.
