Delivering Open Access Content to Institutions
The Jisc Publications Router is a middleware tool that automates the direct delivery of research articles
between multiple data suppliers such as publishers and subject repositories and multiple individual
repositories (IRs).
The Publications Router:
• Offers a delivery service between publishers and IRs worldwide
• Increases number of deposits in IRs
• Minimises the efforts required of potential depositors and repository staff
• Maximises distribution and exposure of research output
• Supports compliance to funders mandates and the UK Research for Excellence
The Publications Router does this by:
• Accepting data objects such as research articles
• Extracting authors’ affiliations from the metadata provided to determine appropriate target repositories
• Transferring publications to repositories registered with the service
• Exposing Open Access (OA) content for browsing via a web based GUI and for harvesting via
machine-to-machine APIs
• Notifying users, via self-registration email alerts, when relevant content is available
The Publications Router provides an effective solution to Open Access content dissemination.
