Target: Kids/Teenagers / Adults- All Levels.

Theme: Identity
Objective: Talk about identity
General objective: Students introduce
themselves; discuss likes and dislikes; individual
traits and preferences.
3. CLASS PREPARATION
One class in advance, the teacher asks the
students to bring 03 songs they like best,
individually; at least one must be in English.
They could have them in their cell phones, i-pods,
laptops; or any other device available for the
class; such as CD player, computer,
smartboard…
4. THE BIG DAY
In a classroom
arranged in a circle,
or U formation; each
student goes to the
center of the circle
and plays his/her
songs: part of each
song is enough, due to
time.
Then s/he tells the
class why those songs
were chosen.
5. TEACHER´S TURN
After all the sts have presented their songs, and
talked about them; the teacher proposes a panel
creation, where the students write the music
styles presented: techno, reggae, heavy metal,
etc.
6. CLASS DISCUSSION
What do their
preferences say about
who they are?
What are the main
kinds of message in
each style?

7. FURTHER USES
For the following classes, the teacher may use
their songs to introduce or review topics.
