2. Benefits of technology in the classroom Teachers who use technology in the classroom show greater student benefits.

3. Benefits of technology… Students are gain technological skills that can be used throughout school and in the workplace. As students go through their elementary, middle, and high school years, the use of technology becomes more demanding. Early development of technology gives students the adequate skills for most workplaces.

4. Benefits of technology… Students are more engaged when technology is incorporated with traditional teaching. Students enjoy lessons when technology is integrated into traditional lessons.

5. Benefits of technology… Students learn social skills. Students learn communication skills by using word processing, e-mail, messaging, blogging, etc. and the proper etiquette for these types of communication.

6. Benefits of technology… Students organizational skills increase. Databases and spread sheet programs can teach students how to organize and use their information.

7. What not to do with technology in the classroom Create an over-reliance on technology to find solutions. Model finding solutions using both technology and by traditional problem solving.

8. Do not… Use technology to teach, rather use as an aid for teaching. Use a educational video to enhance your lesson not as your lesson.

9. What not to do… Not using the technology, if it’s there, make time to learn how to use it, and slowly work yourself into using it. Don’t let yourself be afraid to use the technology. If unused, it serves no purpose to the students. If you are unsure how to use the technology, ask your tech at your school, ask a team member, or set aside some time to explore the technology.

10. Remember, technology in the classroom needs to be an aid in the teaching process, not the teaching process.
