An initiative to inspire students to discover Maths in unobvious situations and places.
What is Mathcovery Mathcovery is the first of its kind National level Mathematics competitiondeveloped by a group of school students. Mathcovery seeks to help students learn to appreciate and realize the unlimited potential of mathematics through the discovery of Maths present in the most unexpected things and places.
Why Mathcovery Mathcovery aims to change the way in which the children look at Maths in general, that Maths is not just about learning the correct formulae or scoring good marks in exam. Maths is present everywhere around us and through Mathcovery, the students learn to recognize this fact and in turn learn to love the subject.
How Mathcovery started In June of 2010, 6 students of varied ages, under the guidance of a team of experts from Educational Initiatives, came up with an interesting and unique idea for a first of its kind mathematics competition- MATHCOVERY. MATHCOVERY CREATORS: Front row. From left to right: Chiranjiv Melwani (Class 11), NishantGajjar (Class 9), Rahul Makwana (Class 8), AnuronMitra(Class 10),Behind: TariniHardikar(Class 10), AnshulSheth (Class 7)
What did Mathcovery Creators DO? The creators came up with the idea for Mathcovery. They first decided to test it by creating a Mathcovery project and presenting it to the Maths Experts at Educational Initiatives. After a successful response from everyone, they designed plans for promoting it Nationally. “Working with Mindspark in creating a nation-wide contest was simply amazing. I learned many new things like maths is found everywhere. Usually, we find maths difficult but actually it’s very easy, as we discovered.” AnshulSheth. Chiranjiv building the Mathcovery Project in the Educational Initiatives office.
What did Mathcovery Creators DO? Even hosted the 2011 Grand Finale “My experience with Mathcovery team is one of the best experiences of my life. The fact that I am actually a designer of a nation-wide contest is in itself very hard to believe. Sitting there in a real office, working with grown-ups, processing ideas and dishing out results has done wonders for my perspective.” AnuronMitra
