TIPS FOR CHOOSING THE RIGHT
ROOFING COMPANY
Any homeowner or business owner that has had a serious
roof problem knows just how unsettling and even
dangerous it can be. And if that problem was due to poor
workmanship by your roofing company, frustration and
even anger may be added to the list.

The roof is one of the most important, if not the most
important part of any structure, and if it starts to falter,
you could be in for some serious trouble. Naturally, it all
starts with selecting the right roofing company.

Here are some valuable tips:
ASK FOR REFERRALS

It’s no secret that people love to talk about work
they’ve had done to their home. They will tell you
about the good ones, and they’ll certainly tell you
about the bad ones.

Don’t be afraid to ask for referrals from friends,
family and co-workers when you’re starting your
search for a quality roofing company. You will hear
some of the most honest responses imaginable.
DO THEY HAVE THE RIGHT
EXPERIENCE?
When you do find a few roofing company candidates
to narrow down the list, experience is always one of
the more important factors to consider. And when
considering experience, don’t just ask if they have
experience, ask if they have the ‘right’ experience.

This means, do they have experience with the same
type of roof that you have, or want to have. Relevant
experience is far more important than just doing
something similar for a bunch of years.
IS THE WORK GUARANTEED?

Considering the importance of the roofing system,
make sure the work is guaranteed before you sign
anything and let them get to work. You’ll want a
guarantee on the product that goes up there, and on
the actual workmanship.

This ensures you’ll be covered if the product itself is
faulty, or if it is fine but it was installed improperly.
If a roofing company won’t guarantee its own work,
you should probably look elsewhere.
ASK FOR SAMPLES OF WORK

It’s only natural to want to see samples of work the
company has done in the past, so make this a
requirement of the job. You may be able to see some
real life samples from the referrals, or at least as for
online or catalogued samples.

Like with the experience, samples that are relevant
to what you need done will carry a lot more weight.
ASK FOR REFERENCES

Whether you have been referred to this roofing
company or not, ask for references before you sign a
contract. If you can speak to people that have
worked with them in the past, you’ll get a good sense
of things like:

 Workmanship
 Professionalism

 Customer service

 Timeliness

 Hidden costs
DON’T FOCUS ON THE PRICE
With industries such as roofing, it can be very tempting to
focus on getting the job done at the lowest price, but this
can end up being a disaster in the long run. Think of
everything your roof must endure over the course of a
year, and remember you want it to last for many years
without being replaced.

That’s not to say that price isn’t important, or that you
can’t get the best price with a great product and great
service. Just keep in mind that a great roofing company is
about more than price alone.
