Documentary Research
Primary Research
Interviewees


Local app company (www.appitized.co.uk) For our main interview, we have got in touch with an app company whom are
located near our college, asking if we coul take out five minutes of their time to discuss with them about how they use the
social networking world to your advantage.



Apple we are planning on going into the apple store located in Liverpool to ask if we can have an interview with one of their
staff whilst in the store.



Vox pops For other interivews we will do a selection of vox pops on the street asking them their opinions on social
networking and which ones they use the most, going off the questions we asked for our target audience questionnaire.



Members of staff and students We do not plan to interview many people from college however, some staff and students will
be vital for our argument such as IT staff and Library members whom we hope to ask questions about why certain sites are
banned in college. We also want to interview students we found through our questionnaire who do not use social networking
and plan to ask them why.

Mise en Scene


Interviews: - Whilst interviewing the app company we plan to make sure the mise en scene fits our topic. Whether it involve
the logo or sign of the company in the background, or maybe an office or workspace involving a computer positioned behind
them, whilst sticking to the rule of thirds. If we are able to attain an interview with Apple this will be located in one of their
stores. As we know it'll be a little harder to plan ahead of time, and we will have to deal with whatever we are given. Vox pops
will take place on the street located near an app or computer store if possible, with possibly a ‘Free WiFi' sign in the
background. And when interviewing people in college, we plan to use the green screen with screen recordings of Facebook
pages, tumblr dashboards and Twitter timelines in the background.

Location for Filming


For transitions and cut away shots we plan to use locations such as computer rooms, computer shops, free WiFi locations,
app stores, etc.

Props


We will use props such as green screens, laptops, computers to show people on social networking sites, and phones to show
apps in use.
Secondary Research
Cyberbullying:


Over half of adolescents and teens have been bullied online, and about the same number have engaged in cyber bullying.



More than 1 in 3 young people have experienced cyberthreats online.



Over 25 percent of adolescents and teens have been bullied repeatedly through their cell phones or the Internet.



Only 1 in 10 teens tells a parent if they have been a cyber bully victim



Fewer than 1 in 5 cyber bullying incidents are reported to law enforcement



1 in 10 adolescents or teens have had embarrassing or damaging pictures taken of themselves without their permission, often
using cell phone cameras



About 1 in 5 teens have posted or sent sexually suggestive or nude pictures of themselves to others



Girls are somewhat more likely than boys to be involved in cyber bullying



31,599 children called ChildLine in 2011/12 about bullying



Bullying victims are 2 to 9 times more likely to consider committing suicide.

Privacy:


Two-thirds of parents claim to set rules on their child’s use of social networking sites, although only 53% of children said that
their parents set such rules.



While communication with known contacts was the most popular social networking activity, 17 % of adults used their profile to
communicate with people they do not know. This increases among younger adults.



Sixty-nine per cent of adults who have a social networking page or profile used social networking sites to talk to friends or
family who they saw regularly anyway, compared to 17% of adults who used sites to talk to those they didn’t already know.



Those who talked to people they didn’t know were significantly more likely to be aged 16-24 (22% of those with a social
networking page or profile) than 25-34 (7% of those with a profile).
