• It can mean many things, so it can be hard to
know where to draw the line
• Its mainly used using web based technology

communication between users
• Another possible definition could involve the
concept of a more complex medium in
comparison to traditional media where it only
delivers content
• It is generally found within use of the internet

• The internet has recently become prone in
everyday life and is a main source of social media
• Being accessible to the majority of people and
available from different forms of technology
users now have a direct, simplistic way of
communicating with each other
• It enables users to interact with media and other
users through the development of different social
media, such as:
• Blogging
• Social networking sites
• It is a flexible medium which enables users to
express themselves however they wish
• As society is becoming increasingly impatient the
instant availability of social information, on sites
such as Twitter, creates instant popularity within
social media

• Television is not directly sociable yet
content on a screen can enable viewers to
feel an interaction. As a viewer following a

Obviously this depends on the program,
some channels can offer different media
content to watch. Some television
channels major selling point is interaction,
especially with television sales
programmes. So all in all, depending on
the content very much depends on the
interaction between programs.
• Radio offers a more direct sociable aspect
than television. It’s the presenter or DJ’s
job to keep listeners engaged to their
show. You often find that the presenter
speaks to the majority rather than a
minority.
• Adverts between television and radio also
have a interaction for viewers and
listeners.
