Cancer arises due to genetic changes that cause cells to multiply uncontrollably and form malignant tumors. The genetic changes occur as a result of DNA damage from environmental and lifestyle factors like toxins, radiation, and viruses. If cancer is to be better understood and conquered, more research is needed to elucidate the molecular mechanisms by which these genetic changes cause normal cells to transform into invasive cancer cells.
