My Survey What I learnt
1. What I’ve learnt from my survey.
• Most people said that the number one reason for why they bought a
music magazine was because of the free gift that came with it. I
suspected this because the free gift is a major selling point for a
magazine. Because of this result I was include in my magazine a
free gift also.
• Most people according to my survey do not by music physically or
buy downloads, this correlates with my other part of research, that
most people download music illegally. Over half of the people I
got to do my survey said that they download music illegally form
limewire. Since most people don’t by physical music (CD’s)
anymore, it’s important that I incise my audience with a relevant
and more modern deal. Instead of a free CD, I will give you free
legal downloads; this will attract people to my magazine.
• The majority said that their favourite festival was, ‘Download’ and
that their favourite genre was rock/ metal. This means that my
target audience will be those who enjoy rock music. The most
popular festival chosen ‘Download’ will be featured in my
magazine also as another hot topic, and great selling point.
• Most people that did my survey said that they didn’t by music
magazine; this was surprising, given that they knew and liked a lot
of music magazines. But the people that did buy magazines told me
that they only spent – or were willing to spend – around about £1 -
£1.50 on music magazines, this gives me a rough idea on how
much my Magazine should cost.
• The theme of my music magazine will revolve mainly around
metal/ rock. And be similar or based on ‘Hammer’ or ‘Kerrang.’
The layout of my magazine will be similar to ‘Hammer’ and
‘Kerrang’ is style as well as content.
• Since peoples favourite part of a magazine was the free gift and
their favourite music website was ITunes, I think merging the two,
so that with every copy of my magazine you get a free iTunes
vouchers.
