Initial-Workshops about “Micro-Blogging for Teaching and Learning” at the Lucerne University of Applied Sciences and Arts on September 6, 2011. This 30 minutes workshop gave an overview on the microblogging service Twitter and focused on the usage for social learning, the creation of a personal learning network, a learning community, for communication, and sharing links and resources. A discussion about experiences, hopes and concerns closed this session. The participants were interested university members, researchers and teachers.

Social Media is not new; however, it is literally everywhere today and it is connecting people, places, things, and ideas. And libraries, for centuries, have acted as conduits to help their communities obtain high-quality information while providing a social space for their users to consume, repurpose, and share content. In this interactive session learn how to enhance library resources and services that exist both online and in physical library spaces by using a variety of social media tools including blogging, mobile technologies (QR codes), microblogging, gaming, social networking, and more. This session will continue on after today so that we can see firsthand some of the new and innovative techniques that others have used to help make their library and its resources more visible while subsequently providing fresh and lasting connections with library users.

EuroCALL - Before & After Twitter : the Personal Learning Environment

The use of the new information and communication technologies (ICTs) has speedily increased during the last 20 years. They have led us to a new global citizenship, a new way of thinking and even a new way of behaving, which have influenced all knowledge fields, including education. As a matter of fact, UNESCO’s ICT Competency Standards for Teachers (2008) recently pointed out that both students and teachers must utilize technology effectively in order to live, learn, and work successfully in an increasingly complex, information-rich and knowledge-based society. Students have new ways to access information and learn; they have naturally developed cognitive skills that make the use of digital technology much easier. Thus, they are called ‘the net generation’ or 'digital natives', people who have grown up with technology, mainly Internet (Prensky, 2001). Consequently, teachers have to develop digital competences to satisfy the demands of that new generation. Making the teaching-learning process more effective, interesting, dynamic, updated and adapted to the new learning times is a must for us. This presentation will offer an overview of digital literacy and a basic training on powerful Web 2.0 tools (blogs, wikis, podcasts, social networking, etc) to enhance the ELT teaching practice.

Abstract: Mobile Apps versprechen neues Lernen und wir wollen die Technologien der Studierenden besser für das Lehren und Lernen nutzten. Weil mobile Apps immer im Verbund mit anderen Technologien zu sehen sind, stellt sich die Frage nach dem Mehrwert mobiler Apps für die Hochschuldidaktik. In dieser Studie wurde über 5 Jahre hinweg der kontextualisierende Effekt mobiler Apps vor dem Hintergrund der Aktivitätstheorie untersucht. Es wurde gezeigt, dass es Apps als Lehrmittel allein durch ihren Bereitstellungsmodus die Lernsituationen erweitern und das Lernen flexibilisieren können.

Januar 2020, ZHAW Wädenswil, Campus Grünetal. Zum Inhalt: Das Erstellen digitaler Lernangebote für die Hochschullehre ist sehr anspruchsvoll und zeitintensiv. Deshalb ist es für die Konzeption und Umsetzung von Blended-Learning-Angeboten wichtig, Zeit und Ressourcen sparende Methoden anzuwenden, die es ermöglichen, digitale Technologien in unsere bestehende Lehrpraxis zu integrieren und Lerndesigns zu überdenken, um die Lernaktivitäten neu arrangieren und gestalten zu können. Dafür müssen diese an den Lernzielen und den erwarteten Lernergebnissen ausgerichtet sein, die Lernprozesse gut strukturiert und angemessene Methoden und Werkzeuge ausgewählt werden. Doch wie können wir in unsere existierende Face-to-Face Lehrpraxis E-Learning-Elemente zielgerichtet integrieren? Gibt es Methoden und Werkzeuge, die uns dabei unterstützen? In diesem Workshop wird ein pattern-based Ansatz vorgestellt, mit dessen Hilfe komplexe Lehr- und Lernszenarien vorbereitet und analysiert werden. Diese Methode bietet sowohl ein Toolkit als auch ein Framework zur Konzeption, Analyse und Kommunikation von Lehr- und Lerndesigns. Das vorgestellte Framework hilft in relativ kurzer Zeit, reichhaltige Lernerlebnisse mithilfe von LMS-Funktionen und -Features für die Studierenden zu entwickeln und umzusetzen.

Educational design is not only hard for subject matter experts but also for professors and lecturers. In order to keep the diversity and quality of courses while digitising education, it is important that the related educational processes are well thought through, so educators can choose the appropriate tools for their teaching. This presentation presents a pattern approach to educational design. It integrates concepts of design thinking and rapid prototyping with learning experience design. This approach has been used for transforming face-to-face teaching into digital practices. This joint presentation with Christian Glahn was held on 7th December 2018 at Online Educa Berlin 2018.

Eduhub Days 2017, Lugano (Show & tell) From summative to formative assessment in the flipped classroom using the Mobler App Christian Glahn, HTW Chur; Marion Gruber, UZH Flipped classroom didactics require an understanding on the level of preparedness of students before they return to contact sessions. Using formative assessment strategies is one way to understand the student challenges and understanding of concepts. After four pilot rounds at UZH and HTW Chur the Mobler App has matured and with the availability of the EduID Mobile App, it becomes easier to connect mobile formative assessment into regular courses. In this session we will share our experiences in integrating the Mobler App into flipped classroom settings. Based on a worked example, we will demonstrate how to use Course Activities to activate Mobler Questions and how to monitor student progress from within the LMS as part of formative assessment strategies.

This number is accessible through mobile phones and landlines of all telecom networks including private service providers. Replies to the farmers’ queries are given in 22 local languages. Kisan Call Centre services are available from 6.00 AM to 10.00 PM on all seven days of the week at each KCC location. Kisan Call Centre agents known as Farm Tele Advisors (FTAs), who are graduate or above (i.e. PG or Doctorate) in Agriculture or allied sectors (Horticulture, Animal Husbandry, Fisheries, Poultry, Bee-Keeping, Sericulture, Aquaculture, Agricultural Engineering, Agricultural Marketing, Bio-Technology, Home Science, etc.) and possess excellent communication skills in respective local language. Queries which cannot be answered by FTAs are transferred to higher level experts. These experts are Subject Matter Specialists (SMSs) of State Departments of Agriculture (SDAs), ICAR Institutes, KVKs and State Agricultural Universities (SAUs). A Kisan Knowledge Management System (KKMS) has been developed to capture all the details of the caller and sending gist of answer given through SMS.
